You can enjoy the traditional Nutcracker Ballet, a Christmas Pops concert, family-friendly theater performances, and big-name entertainment, to name just a few examples. Built entirely with private funds, the Bass Performance Hall is the permanent home to the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Texas Ballet Theater, Fort Worth Opera, and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and Cliburn Concerts. 

Every winter, the venue hosts special holiday-themed performances, such as the annual show "Michael Martin Murphey's Cowboy Christmas." Listen to this Grammy-nominated songwriter for an evening of music, poetry, and stories that will add some Texan twang to your holiday celebrations on December 16, 2019.

Another Texas music legend performing this season is Robert Earl Keen with his all-new holiday jamboree, "Countdown to Christmas: Lunar Tunes & Looney Times," honoring the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Keen performs a collection of some of his greatest hits on December 30, 2019.

December events at the downtown performing arts complex are full of holiday cheer. Dallas Theater Center presents its annual production of "A Christmas Carol" at the Wyly Theater, running from November 22 through December 29, 2019.

Returning back for a second year is the "Espresso Nutcracker," featuring the talented dancers from the Dallas Black Dance Academy and using a jazz-influenced version of this timeless ballet. Catch these dancers at the Majestic Theater on December 13, 2019.

Introduce young kids to the theater by taking them to see a holiday favorite, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical." It's a fun show with an uplifting message, and will be performed at the Winspear Opera House on December 15, 2019.

Casa Mañana Theatre

Casa Mañana Theatre in Fort Worth hosts the world premiere of "Jack Frost" this season, an original Christmas play about the wintry misfit who must restore order to the Frozen Kingdom. This action-packed production is sure to be a hit for the whole family, with performances from November 22 through December 23, 2019.

Also performing this season is "A Dean Martin Christmas," performed by the famous Dean Martin look-alike, Joe Scalissi. Listen to some of the most popular holiday hits performed in the style of "The King of Cool," such as "Let It Snow" and "Baby It's Cold Outside." Shows run from December 3–21, 2019.

Visit the Pocket Sandwich Theatre in Dallas for Christmas entertainment along with something tasty to eat. This is a live theatre with optional food and beverages, deli-style fare—the last of dinner theaters in DFW.

The annual performance of "Ebenezer Scrooge" is a musical adaptation of Dicken's classic Christmas story, guaranteed to put you and your group in the spirit of the holidays. This play is running for the 38th consecutive year from November 28 through December 23, 2019.

Holiday Performances at the Dallas Children's Theater

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the publishing of Eric Carle's most famous children's book, the Dallas Children's Theater is staging a special Christmas version of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" from November 23 to December 29, 2019. This production is suitable for children of all ages, and parents who remember reading this story in their own childhood will surely love it as well. The cast is made up of large colorful puppets who fill in the caterpillar's magical world, which are sure to delight young audience members.

If you're a fan of Christmastime music, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra always puts on a variety of holiday-themed shows in December. One of their annual shows is the "Christmas Pops Concert," featuring the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas singing classic holiday favorites from December 6–15, 2019, with a cameo appearance by Santa himself.

"Fiesta Navidad!" is a one-night Latin music spectacular where the Dallas Symphony pairs up with the Grammy-winning Mariachi Los Camperos. They'll be performing Christmas carols from both sides of the border on December 17, 2019, and will surely have the audience on their feet dancing along.

Broadway theater darlings Megan Hilty and Cheyenne Jackson will be singing holiday classics during three nights from December 20–22, 2019, accompanied by the Dallas Symphony for a magical show.

The Pavilion

The Pavilion, a huge amphitheater located in Irving, Texas, offers two holiday shows for the whole family to enjoy this year. On December 11, 2019, catch "A Charlie Brown Christmas," a live stage production featuring the timeless characters from Charles Schultz's most famous comic. The whole Peanuts gang learns the true meaning of Christmas in this show, and sings some holiday classics along the way.

On December 14, 2019, actor Chevy Chase will be in attendance to screen his classic holiday feature, "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." After the movie, he'll share stories about his long career in Hollywood and take questions from the audience.
