Looking for somewhere else to stay that's cheap in other parts of Delhi? Check out these Hostels, Guesthouses and Budget Hotels in Delhi.
Possibly the best budget hotel in Paharganj, Hotel City Star is certainly a favored choice for those wanting to pay a bit extra. It's a new hotel with a rather gorgeous decor, soft beds, yummy rooftop restaurant, and superb service. Inside is like an oasis in the middle of a noisy street. If you're concerned about comfort in Paharganj, and want to stay somewhere away from the Main Bazaar, this hotel is it! Oh, and the hotel has a gym and business center as well. It's excellent value for money. There are 31 rooms.
Bloomrooms is another excellent choice for those who are willing to pay a bit more for a decent budget stay. It's also situated away from the Main Bazaar but only a few minutes walk to New Delhi Railway Station. This funky chain of budget hotels is known for its minimalist decor, comfortable beds, bathrooms with rain showers, and affordable rates. iMac stations and high-speed wireless Internet are also available for guests to use. The only negative is that the restaurant could be improved.
Side by side in the same area as Bloomrooms, the boutique Hotel Godwin Deluxe and cheaper Hotel Grand Godwin are also popular budget options. The Godwin Deluxe is the newer of the two hotels, and is super clean and has a great western-style cafe for those who are craving a break from Indian cuisine. Airport pick up, wireless Internet, and buffet breakfast are all included in the rates.
Hotel Shelton is a long-standing favorite with a central location right in the middle of Paharganj's Main Bazaar. Its 38 rooms have recently been given a makeover too, and it's worth paying extra for one of the deluxe ones. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the street. The hotel's leafy Kitchen Cafe Roof Top restaurant serves good Continental food and real Espresso Italian coffee. Open 24 hours, it's a popular traveler's hangout and one of the top restaurants in Paharganj.

If you're looking for a tranquil guesthouse that's centrally located near the middle of the Main Bazaar but not on a noisy road, try Cottage Ganga Inn. The building is in a courtyard so it remains undisturbed. The hotel has a regular clientele that return each trip, 22 rooms (including some family rooms), thoughtful staff, fast and free wireless Internet, and a rooftop restaurant for chilling out (try and book a room on that level). Plus, Sam's bar is just around the corner.
Smyle Inn is a reliable choice for an inexpensive stay in Paharganj. It's a friendly backpacker place with honest staff who take great care of guests. The hotel has 35 rooms spread across two wings (old and new) just off the Main Bazaar, so it's relatively quiet and peaceful. There are separate dorm rooms for female travelers. Facilities include air-conditioning, free wireless Internet, common room, small book library, courtyard, travel desk, restaurant, room service, laundry.
Part of India's highly-rated Zostel hostel chain, this popular hostel is bigger than most as it occupies a building that used to be a mid-sized hotel close to New Delhi Railway Station. It has 39 rooms, many of them private doubles. Staff are welcoming, the common room is lively, and a decent breakfast is provided. Facilities include female-only and mixed dorms, pool table, TVs, rooftop for socializing, fast and free wireless Internet, kitchen, games room, air-conditioning.
Situated at the far opposite end of the Main Bazaar to Zostel, Backpacker Panda is much smaller with 13 rooms. It opened in 2016. The street food walk that the hostel organizes is worthwhile. Do note that the hostel does get noisy though, as it's located on the main road and there are bars nearby. Hot water is also scarce at times. The hostel has both female and mixed dorms, common room, and all the facilities you'd expect.
If you're concerned about safety, don't be because it's the number one priority at The Backpackers Hostel. This cozy new hostel is centrally located not far from Hotel Shelton in Paharganj's Main Bazaar. Inside, it's quite small and only has mixed dorms. However, they're among the cheapest in Delhi. What the hostel really excels at, though, is service. Whether you need a SIM card for your phone, want to plan your India trip, or have been the victim of a scam -- the staff will help you. The hostel has a happy vibe and is a great place to meet other travelers.
