Dancing Rabbit Golf Club is nestled among the rolling hills of the heartland of east central Mississippi. A part of the Pearl River Resort on the ancestral lands of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Dancing Rabbit Golf Club is home to two world-class golf courses: the Azaleas and the Oaks. Both are award-winning, par-72 courses; both are more than 7,000 yards long off the championship tees; both offer five different sets of tees and thus can accommodate golfers of every level of skill; and both are the creation of the fertile imaginations of Tom Fazio and Jerry Pate.
It's been a while since I last played Dancing Rabbit. But that's okay, because sometime this fall I'll do it again. I'll also tell you this: Dancing Rabbit is a destination you'll never forget. Combined, the two courses are spread across more than 700 acres with some five miles of meandering, spring-fed creeks and streams to contend with along the way. The two undulating layouts encompass an area of exquisite natural beauty, unspoiled wetlands and old-growth woodlands. Both courses feature A4 Bentgrass greens.
The Oaks has Zoysia fairways while the Azaleas has Bermuda fairways.
Neither of these two lovely courses is an easy play (the fairways are sometimes tight, the landing areas less than generous, and the greens are not the easiest to read) but they are a true delight. There's an overwhelming sense of quiet peacefulness that transcends even the most difficult round. And the all-encompassing beauty of these ancestral lands is, at times, well, distracting, in the best possible way.
So here you have two stunning, award-winning, par-72 courses, the Azaleas and the Oaks, both more that 7,000 yards when playing from the back tees, both with five different sets of tees to accommodate every level of play, set upon more than 700 acres of some of the finest real estate with more than five miles of meandering spring-fed streams in a setting of incredible natural beauty. Virtually every hole at Dancing Rabbit is a work of art. The greens are Champion Bermuda grass on the Oaks course and A-4 Bent grass greens on the Azaleas.
This along with Zoysia fairways on the Oaks and Bermuda fairways on the Azaleas makes for an exceptional playing platform. Better yet, both courses are the work of the inimitable Tom Fazio along with PGA great Jerry Pate. Dancing Rabbit Golf Club is the jewel in the Pearl River Resort’s crown. Pearl River is an inland Casino Resort: a glitzy, world-within-a-world where the days are long and warm and quite. When the sun goes down, however, the resort turns into a blazing kaleidoscope of light and color. The marriage between the golf club and casino resort was an inspiration. It’s the perfect spot for a golf vacation with benefits, or the ultimate corporate getaway.
