Autumn is a big time for Gay Pride festivals in Texas - from late August through early October, you can attend Austin Gay Pride, Dallas's Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade, and Tarrant County Gay Pride in Fort Worth. Another major event, which actually takes place the same weekend as Fort Worth Pride, is Dallas Southern Pride, which - as organizers bill it - is the "premier Black Gay Pride Event" of Dallas. Dallas Southern Pride takes place in early October - this year's dates are September 29 through October 3, 2016.
Dallas Southern Pride consists of several big events taking place over several days, plus a number of parties leading up to the big weekend. There's the Dallas Southern Pride Pageant, the BHAP Ball/House Pageant, Saturday night's legendary 24K Ball (this year on Oct. 1), the Annual Black Pride Pool Party, and the Lipstick Ball on the final evening. Some events are tailored more to men, others to women - check the Him4Him and Her4Her pages for details.
If you're looking for advice on where to stay, the organizers also have created a Dallas Southern Pride hotel info page, which has details on the deals being offered to attendees by the official host hotel (this year it's the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dallas Market Center).
You can find out more about the numerous gay bars as well as gay-popular restaurants, hotels, and shops in town by consulting local papers, such as Dallas Voice and This Week In Texas, for details.
