Every other year, Disney fans converge on the Anaheim Convention Center in Orange County, California to celebrate all things Disney at the D23 Expo, the ultimate Disney fan convention. The family-friendly event, which draws over 60,000 adults and kids from all over the world, offers sneak peeks at upcoming movies, the latest theme park plans, panels of Disney creators and celebrity speakers, performances and autograph opportunities.
You'll also find custom event memorabilia and a hall full of vendors selling all things Disney, Pixar and Marvel. Tickets for the next D23 usually go on sale a year in advance.
What is D23?
D23 is the official Disney Fan Club, named for the year Walt Disney left Kansas City headed for Los Angeles, 1923. If you never heard of it growing up, that's because it was only created in 2009, at the same time as the first D23 Expo. You can join D23 for free and get basic access to the member website, discounts on the Expo and invitations to select member events. The paid Gold Membership adds additional benefits including early entry into the D23 Expo, access to more member events and the ability to bring a guest, as well as special gifts and publications.
Both Free and Gold Members get discounts on Expo tickets, so it's worth joining if you're planning to attend, but only the Gold Members get early entry.
