Among the most noteworthy spots to find wet fun and seek relief in the Lone Star State is Schlitterbahn. The place with the funny name (it means "slippery slope" in German) is one of the most popular, largest, and innovative water parks—not just in Texas, but around the world. The original New Braunfels location is so successful, its owners built other Schlitterbahn parks in other parts of the state. Another well regarded water park is Aquatica at SeaWorld San Antonio. It features a lush tropical theme along with animal exhibits. As in other parts of the country, indoor water parks have caught on in Texas. There are a number of resorts that offer year-round sliding and wave pooling. The following water parks are arranged alphabetically. 01 of 28 Aquatica at SeaWorld San Antonio SeaWorld Parks The large outdoor water park requires separate admission from SeaWorld San Antonio. The highly themed Aquatica includes live animals, tube slides, body slides, family raft rides, a wave pool, an activity pool, a lazy river, an interactive water play center, and play areas for younger kids. In 2022, Aquatica will be debuting Riptide Race, a dueling, racing water slide. Riders in two-passenger rafts will compete against one another in side-by-side courses. The race starts 51 feet in the air at the top of a tower and will continue through 565 feet of slides. 02 of 28 Bahama Beach in Dallas Bahama Beach Bahama Beach is a medium-sized water park with a decent collection of water slides, including the Bermuda Triangle tower with three body slides, Riptide Slide and Bahama Bullet, slides you can ride in single- or two-passenger tubes, and Tortuga Express, a multi-lane mat racing ride. 03 of 28 Beach Park at Isla Blanca in South Padre Island Beach Park at Isla Blanca Set on the beach, the beautiful, large outdoor water park used to be part of the Schlitterbahn chain. Attractions include a FlowRider surfing experience, the Agua Blanca tube chute, and the Storm Chaser uphill water coaster. The park also offers hotel and condo accommodations as well as meeting and banquet areas. 04 of 28 Big Rivers in New Carney Big Rivers Waterpark Among the attractions at the large outdoor water park are a wave pool, a lazy river, speed slides, a family raft ride, body slides, tube slides, a mat racing slide, and a huge interactive water play structure. For younger children, the park offers pint-sized slides at Hatchling Hill and the splash pad, Polliwog Puddle. Big Rivers also features dry attractions, including zip lines, a ropes course, a climbing wall, a maze, a petting zoo, fishing, and amusement rides at the Fairgrounds. Continue to 5 of 28 below. 05 of 28 Camp Cohen in El Paso City of El Paso The small outdoor water park, which is run by the city of El Paso, includes a slide complex with body and tube slides, a kids water playground, a lap pool, a leisure pool, a kiddie pool, a current channel, and a climbing wall. 06 of 28 Castaway Cove in Wichita Falls Castaway Cove Castaway Cove is a good-sized outdoor water park that offers a nice mix of attractions including Cliffhanger, a half pipe slide, the Storm Watch Tower with open and enclosed tube slides, the Buccaneer Bay interactive water play center, a lazy river, a wave pool, water volleyball, and activities for younger children. 07 of 28 Chapoteo in El Paso City of El Paso One of four municipal, outdoor water parks operated by the city of El Paso, the Mexican-themed Chapoteo offers water slides, a kids water playground, a lap pool, a large leisure pool, a kiddie pool, a current channel, and a climbing wall. The park opened in 2021. 08 of 28 The Cove in Little Elm The Lakefront A good-sized indoor water park, The Cove features a double Flowrider surfing attraction, a variety of water slides, a lazy river, an activity pool, a play structure, a sprayground, a climbing wall, and a rope swing all housed under a retractable roof. Attractions include 11 water slides, a wave pool, an activity pool, a FlowRider surf simulator, a lazy river, and an arcade. 10 of 28 Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine Great Wolf Lodge The indoor water park resort, Great Wolf Lodge is open to registered hotel guests only. Day passes are not available. At 80,000 square feet, the water park is quite large and offers plenty of attractions including a bowl slide, a funnel ride, wave pool, activity pool, lazy river, two whirlpool spas, and an interactive play structure with tipping bucket. The large resort offers a host of other family activities as well. 11 of 28 Hawaiian Falls Waterparks in Multiple Locations Hawaiian Falls Locations: The Colony, Garland, Mansfield, Pflugerville, Roanoke, and Waco Attractions vary by location at the chain of medium-sized parks, but all of the Hawaiian Falls offer plenty of thrills as well as more sedate attractions and activities for younger children. 12 of 28 Hurricane Alley in Corpus Christi Hurricane Alley Hurricane Alley is a medium-sized outdoor park offers a lazy river, wave pool, mat-racing speed slide, interactive water play center, tube slides, body slides, and a spray deck. Continue to 13 of 28 below. 13 of 28 Kalahari Resort in Round Rock Kalahari Resorts Opened in 2020, the Texas outpost of the popular water park resort chain claims to be “America’s largest indoor water park.” That’s a matter of some contention, but there is no denying that the 223,000-square-foot indoor water park is enormous and packed with all kinds of attractions including bowl slides, slides with launch chambers, a family raft ride, a wave pool, a mini-funnel slide, and much more. The full-fledged resort also offers bowling, escape rooms, an indoor theme park, and live music as well as hotel accommodations, multiple restaurants, a spa, and a convention center. 14 of 28 Lost Kingdom in El Paso City of El Paso One of the four, small, municipal, outdoor water parks that is run by the city of El Paso, the Mayan-themed Lost Kingdom includes a slide complex with body and tube slides, a kids water playground, a lap pool, a leisure pool, a kiddie pool, a current channel, and a climbing wall. It opened in 2021. 15 of 28 Lubbock Water Rampage in Lubbock Lubbock Water Rampage Water Rampage is a small outdoor water park. Attractions include Rio Rampage lazy river, Tidal Wave wave pool, Twin Twisters slides, and Dolphin Cove kids' area. 16 of 28 NRH2O in N. Richland Hills NRH2O NRH2O (cute name!) is a large outdoor water park that offers lots of rides and attractions including body slides, a launch capsule slide, a water coaster, a mat racing slide, a lazy river, a huge wave pool, and an interactive water play center. Continue to 17 of 28 below. 17 of 28 Oasis Water Park in El Paso City of El Paso Operated by the city of El Paso, the small outdoor water park includes a FlowRider surfing attraction, water slides, a current channel, a leisure pool, a kiddie pool, a kids water playground, and a climbing wall. 18 of 28 Palm Beach at Moody Gardens in Galveston Moody Gardens Inc. Part of the Moody Gardens complex, Palm Beach is a small outdoor water park. Among its attractions is a lazy river, a wave pool, a water slide tower, and a splash pad for younger children, Moody gardens also offers an aquarium, a rainforest exhibit, 3D and 4D theaters, a zip line, and a ropes course. 19 of 28 Schlitterbahn Water Parks in New Braunfels and Galveston The New Braunfels Schlitterbahn is one of the industry's oldest water parks in the nation and around the world. With its onsite accommodations, the huge park is as much a destination resort as a place to visit for a day trip. The park has introduced many water park innovations, including the uphill water coaster and the FlowRider surfing attraction. The Galveston Island location includes both indoor and outdoor attractions. Among its highlights are the Cliffhanger speed slide, the Dragon Blaster and MASSIV Monster Blaster uphill water coasters, and the Screaming Serpents enclosed family raft ride with fog and light effects. 20 of 28 Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Arlington Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is an enormous outdoor water park located next to Six Flags Over Texas, but it requires a separate admission from the amusement park. Attractions include a funnel ride, a surf riding attraction with simulated waves, interactive kids' water play area, wave pool, tube slides, an activity pool, body slides, speed slides, a family raft ride, a lazy river, a bowl ride, two half pipe rides, and a mat racing slide. New for 2021, Banzai Pipeline is a four-story tower with three thrilling slides. Continue to 21 of 28 below. 21 of 28 Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown in Houston Six Flags Another huge Six Flags outdoor water park, Spalshtown’s attractions include the Big Spin and RipQurl bowl slides, the Big Kahuna family raft ride, the Bonzai Pipelines slides with launch chambers, Hurricane Bay wave pool, FlowRider surfing experience, Paradis Plunge speed slides, and the Tornado funnel ride. New for 2021, the park introduced Wahoo Wave, a halfpipe-like slide that sends passengers up a nearly vertical wall only to freefall back down. 22 of 28 Splash Kingdom in Canton, Greenville, Hudson Oaks, and Nacogdoches Splash Kingdom Splash Kingdom is a chain of medium-sized outdoor water parks that offer a variety of attractions which vary by location. 23 of 28 Splashtown San Antonio Splashtown San Antonio Splashtown is a medium-sized park that offers a lazy river, wave pool, and a good collection of body and tube slides. It also presents occasional concerts, contests, and special events, such as nighttime “Dive In” movies during which family films are shown on a screen in front of the wave pool. 24 of 28 Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan Splashway Water Park Splashway is a large water park that includes kiddie areas, speed slides, a wave pool, mat racers, tube slides, and a lazy river. It also offers a campground. Continue to 25 of 28 below. 25 of 28 Typhoon Texas in Katy Typhoon Texas Typhoon Texas is good-sized outdoor water park with lots of slides and rides including body slides, tube slides, the Tidal Wave Bay wave pool, the Lazy-T lazy river, and the Dueling Dalton Aqua Loop slide with a launch chamber. 26 of 28 Waterpark at The Villages in Flint Waterpark at The Villages Waterpark at The Villages is a small indoor water park that is open to members of the Silverleaf community. Attractions include a small wave pool, a lazy river, four water slides, and an interactive water play station with a dump bucket. 27 of 28 Wet-N-Wild Waterworld in Anthony Wet-N-Wild Waterworld Wet-N-Wild Waterworld is a large outdoor water park. Attractions include body slides, tube slides, a speed slide, the Wild Island wave pool, a lazy river, and activities for younger kids. 28 of 28 White Water Bay at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio Six Flags White Water Bay is a huge water park that is included with admission to Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
