The CoCo Key Water Resort in Waterbury, Connecticut is a medium-sized indoor water park. It may be located in the heart of New England, but the theme at the park is Key West. The water park features a body slide, the Barracuda Blast, the tube slides, Gator Gush, and a lazy river. One of the more intriguing features is an indoor/outdoor whirlpool spa, which can be quite bracing on a chilly winter day.
The park also offers an activity pool with water basketball and other features.
Younger kids will enjoy the interactive play center, Parrot's Perch, which has small slides and a tipping bucket. The area also contains a "Dip-In Theatre," a shallow pool with a constant loop of movies and cartoons. Given the cacophony of noise and competing visuals in the park, I don't think most kiddos ever actually watch the screen.
Unlike larger indoor water parks, such as Great Wolf Lodge Pocono Mountains, the Connecticut park lacks marquee attractions like a water coaster, simulated surfing ride, or a funnel ride. Lacking any potent thrills, CoCo Key is ideally geared to families with children 11 and under.
The CoCo Key resort offers guest rooms and suites, as well as an arcade with redemption games, conference facilities, party rooms, an enormous ballroom, and a fitness room. The water park's colorful, tropical theme does not extend to the hotel side of the facility.
