The Tuesday before Lent, Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, is a traditional day of celebration and festivities before the contemplation and abstinence of the Lenten season. The Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday is also known as Shrove Tuesday when many area churches host pancake dinners to mark the occasion.

Cleveland may be a thousand miles from New Orleans and several thousand from Rio, but the city still knows how to throw a Mardi Gras party. Mardi Gras 2018 is February 13 and several events have already been announced for the celebration.
