Clearwater and Clearwater Beach has long been a favorite family vacation spot. Located west of Tampa, it was voted the Best Florida Beach Town in 2013 by USA Today readers. It is also home to Florida's most endearing movie star from the film Dolphin Tale. Children will love visiting Winter the dolphin  at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, she's a symbol of hope and perseverance because of her amazing story.

Winter was saved from entanglement in a crab trap line at only 2 months old and rehabilitated at the aquarium where she was given a prosthetic tale. Today, she is thriving and loves visitors! The aquarium also offers a whole bunch of other animal interaction programs like, feeding stingrays and photo opportunities with dolphins.

Clearwater, located on Central Florida's West Coast along the Gulf of Mexico, has an overall average high temperature of 83° and an average low of 63°.

The highest recorded temperature in Clearwater was a sweltering 102° in 1997, and the lowest recorded temperature was a very cold 19° in 1981. On average Clearwater's warmest month is August and January is the average coolest month. The maximum average rainfall usually falls in August.

If you're wondering what to pack, casual and cool is the dress code. Bathing suits, shorts and flip flops are the norm. Of course, water temperatures can reach a chilly 68° F in the winter, but pack your bathing suit anyway.

Year round sunshine means that sunbathing is not out of the question.
