The Annual Christmas Tree Lighting in the Vanderbilt Mansion Courtyard. This FREE event is open to the public. It begins at 4 p.m. with the Northport Chorale performing Christmas carols and holiday favorites, follwed by a 4:30 p.m. lighting of the tree and the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Note: all who attend may pick up complimentary tickets to the Chorale's concert on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 8 p.m. at Northport High School.

Smith Haven Mall Tree Lighting Event from 4 to 6 p.m. The mall will illuminate a 30-foot tree with thousands of twinkling lights. As part of the program, families will be treated to live entertainment from carolers and costumed characters, Santa will make an appearance, there will be face painting, giveaways and more. Guests will also receive FREE hot chocolate, coffee and samples from Smith Haven Mall eateries.

Update: Sorry...this popular event is sold out. Old Westbury Gardens will host its annual First Night and Tree Lighting from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the mansion decked out in holiday splendor. Tree lighting, cookies and cider served, performance by the Bethel Concert Choice, and of course, a visit from Santa.
General Admission: $10.00 adults, $5.00 children (2 to 12 years). Members: $5.00 adults, members' children: free. Due to limited space, reservations are required.

For the 11th consecutive year, the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County present the largest light show on Long Island: their annual Holiday Light Show at 600 Lakeview Avenue in Bayport, New York, open from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night.
Drive through a lovely, mile-long wooded trail surrounded by dazzling light displays and holiday vignettes. There are new displays every year. Cost: $15 per car from Monday through Thursday, $20 per car from Friday through Sunday. Note: you MUST buy tickets in advance.
