If you bought a live Christmas tree this year, perhaps from one of the area tree farms, the method of disposal or recycling differs depending on your community's waste collection services, linked for each city below. Here is information on Christmas tree disposal for each community in the Oklahoma City metro area.

  • Oklahoma City: Simply curb it for the monthly bulk pickup day.
  • Bethany: The city uses regular pickup and requires bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length or 50 pounds in weight. For a fee, residents can use the Public Works Dump. Call (405) 789-6285 for more information.
  • Del City: Residents should call (405) 671-2820 to schedule individual item pickup at an additional charge.
  • Edmond: The city is mulching trees dropped off to Hafer Park or Mitch Park by Jan. 19. Residents can even come back and pick up the mulch after Jan 31. If you can't drop it off, call (405) 359-4701 before Jan. 5 to schedule a free pickup. After that, the typical bulk pick-up fee applies.
  • Midwest City: Residents should take their trees to the recycling center at 8730 SE 15th. Residents can dump for free 4 times a year. For questions or to schedule a special pickup at a cost of $55 per half hour, call (405) 739-1370.
  • Moore: Cut your tree into 2-foot lengths and place beside your household trash on your normal trash collection day.
  • Mustang: At no charge, Mustang residents can drop off trees (limit 1 per household with proof of residency) at the Public Works limb pile (520 West SW 59th Street) until January 2nd.  After that, the trees would need to be cut up and tied in bundles no heavier than 25 pounds and no bigger than 3 feet in length in order to go with normal trash pickup.
  • Nichols Hills: Nichols Hills follows regular pickup schedule and requires bundles not exceeding 4 feet in length or 2 feet in diameter.
  • Norman: Norman is picking up trees on the regular yard waste schedule (first full week on your regular day). Limbs should be no more than 6 feet in length.  Bundle pieces with twine or string.
  • The Village: The city will pick up trees at curbside on bulk pickup days, or residents can take trees to bulk waste site at 1701 NW 115th St. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
  • Warr Acres: Check your bulk pick-up day.  Then, cut limbs to lengths no greater than 4 feet and secure in bundles weighing no more than 50 pounds.
  • Yukon: Residents can dump large items such as Christmas trees for free, once a month, with a current water bill and driver's license at the Oklahoma Environmental Management Authority Transfer Station. Call (405) 354-4317 for more information.
