Each year, the city of Reno lights up a tree through the Christmas holiday season. Its traditional location is in downtown Reno at the corner of 1st and Virginia Streets, in the plaza between the Truckee River and City Hall. Hundreds of people fill the plaza to listen to holiday music and see the huge tree.

After the lighting ceremony, you can go ice skating. The Downtown Reno Ice Rink is located at Greater Nevada Field (home of the Reno Aces and Reno 1868 FC) at 250 Evans Avenue. Free parking is available across the street.
