Inside Atlanta: Chick-fil-A’s Digital Experience Manager shares his favorite spots in Atlanta

We're back with our series Inside Atlanta—each week, we sit down with influential locals to talk about what Atlanta means to them. Today we’re chatting with Michael Lage, Digital Experience Manager for Chick-fil-A.  Lage is the genius behind the Chick-fil-A app, giving fans of the fried chicken sandwich purveyor a whole new reason to love it. The idea? Use it to skip the line at the popular fast food joint—the more you use it, the more free things you get. Score! Thanks to Chick-fil-A’s large following, the app ranked number one in the iTunes Store the first week it opened and is still in the top 10 for food and beverage apps.

A Georgia native, Lage went to UGA and makes Atlanta his home with his wife and daughter. Today we get a tour of The Big Peach led by Lage himself.

I live in… “Virginia Highland. We love the community and walkability of it and sit at the intersection of restaurants, Piedmont Park and the BeltLine.”

I Wish People Knew… “that Atlanta is the epicenter of sweet tea, friendly nature, football and a balance of all these great things. It’s Southern Culture meets Big City Culture.”

You Can Find Me… “at Piedmont Park, whether I’m on a run or talking my daughter to the pool or going to the farmers market.”

It’s Dinner Time, I’m Headed to… “either Agave because it’s premium, delicious Mexican in the heart of East Atlanta; or the Original El Taco because it’s right in our neighborhood, and they’re awesome, whether you’re there with your family or out at night with friends.”

Clock Strikes 5’oclock, I’m Drinking… “a great smoothie from Arden’s Garden because they’re made with fresh fruit. The midtown location is close to my neighborhood and communal, encouraging conversation and connection.”

If I had to Stay in a Hotel, I’d Check Into… “the Intercontinental in Buckhead. Buckhead is so different than Virginia Highland, making for a great staycation, and the hotel is in the heart of Buckhead near restaurants and shops.”

Atlanta’s Best Kept Secret is…  “Skyline Park at Ponce City Market. It has a carnival setup and a beautiful view of the city. My wife and I had a date night there and loved the Skee Ball and Putt Putt.”

When I’m Playing Tourist I go to… “the Atlanta Botanical Garden—it’s an awesome place to escape and enjoy nature, quiet walks and it’s fun for kids.”

I Get My Sweat On… “I try to hit the BeltLine three to four times a week while the sun is rising, running through the heart of the city with other active people.”

I Love Spending My Money at… “If we are anywhere near a King of Pops cart, whether it’s the park or BeltLine, we need to stop and get a pop for the family.”
