Guide Review - Champers Restaurant and Wine Bar, Christ Church, Barbados
The cliff-top setting overlooking Accra Beach in Barbados sets the stages for a romantic dining experience. The very popular seaside restaurant/bar/art gallery is located in a former Bajan home and offers delicious and beautiful fare and superior service. Try to reserve an outside table right before sunset and settle in for dinner and a show.
When the well-informed server tells you to order the Parmesan-crusted barracuda with whole-grain mustard sauce, do not argue. It is amazing. Should you choose not to listen, you can’t go wrong with any of the seafood dishes here. The sautéed sea scallops with a green Thai curry sauce are scrumptious and the mussels, topped with parmesan on a bed of risotto, are another outstanding dish.
While sticking to seafood on an island is always a good idea, the jerk-seasoned pork chop is a lovely alternative and vegetarians are not neglected here. A medley of beans in a madras curry served with basmati rice and wilted greens or the penne pasta are two surprisingly good standouts.
The coconut pie or the warm bread pudding drizzled with rum sauce, also both highly recommended by the server, are not to be missed and a wonderful way to end your meal.
