Celebrity Silhouette

Tour of the Celebrity Cruises' Ship

The Celebrity Silhouette is a large, modern cruise ship with gorgeous venues, numerous cabin categories, exciting restaurants, and fun lounges and indoor/outdoor activity areas.

Celebrity has kept many of the great things from the other Solstice-class ships like the spacious, contemporary design, The Lawn Club and the delightful dining venues, but has added some new things that I think will be very popular with the cruising public. These are detailed in the tour of the Celebrity Silhouette and the links below.

Celebrity Silhouette Dining

Celebrity Cruises has long been acclaimed for its excellent dining venues and cuisine, and the Celebrity Silhouette certainly adds to that fame. The ship has two new dining venues cruise travelers will enjoy. The first is the Lawn Club Grill, which is an specialty interactive outdoor grill restaurant where you can make flat bread or grill your own dinner. Or, you can have the staff (or someone at your table) do it for you! The second new dining venue is The Porch, a casual outdoor restaurant with great views of the Lawn Club and the sea.

Past Celebrity cruisers will be delighted to find their old favorites still on the ship, including a personal favorite of many travelers, Qsine. It's perfect for those who love small bites, and Qsine presents them in such adorable packages. Other specialty restaurants like Murano, Blu, and Tuscan Grille were also retained.

One of the best-designed buffet restaurants at sea, the Oceanview Cafe, sits atop the ship, and the Grand Cuvee main dining room has the same spectacular chandelier and wine tower as the other Solstice-class ships.

Celebrity Silhouette Cabins and Suites

The cabins and suites on the Celebrity Silhouette are almost identical in number of categories and types as the other Solstice-class ships. The AquaClass cabins are different than on any other ship since they both provide easy access to the AquaSpa and also have their own exclusive restaurant, Blu.

The large cruise ship has many other cabin and suite categories, ranging in size from less than 200 square feet to almost 1,300 square feet. Most of the accommodations have a balcony, but the ship also has inside and window cabins for those who are budget conscious.

Although the cabins have a foot rest in the shower, which is perfect for shaving your legs, I wish it had a lighted magnifying shaving/make-up mirror. Many of us baby boomers can't see to "put on our face" without one.

Celebrity Silhouette Lounges and Bars

The Celebrity Silhouette has numerous bars and lounges for its guests to gather in and socialize with family or new or old friends. The one change from the other Solstice-class ships is the restyling of the elegant Michael's Bar into a brew pub with 50 different types of beer.

Other popular watering holes include the Martini Bar and the Sky Lounge, with its spectacular sea views from its location on deck 14. I also love the Sunset Bar, since it sits in a protected area at the aft of the ship and also has marvelous outdoor sea views.

Celebrity Silhouette Interiors

The Celebrity Silhouette has an overall contemporary look on the inside, with touches of elegance. It's not as bright or brassy as some ships and will be particularly appealing to those who like a more sophisticated atmosphere.

The ship has a large tree suspended over its Grand Foyer like its sister ships. It also has a new quiet sitting area called the Hideaway in the space occupied by Team Earth on the other ships. The Hideaway has some eclectic seating and a self-service coffee bar.

The Celebrity Silhouette has an Art Studio with its entrance next to the Lawn Club, which will be used for classes in drawing, painting, and jewelry-making. In addition, the studio will host culinary-themed classes, such as plating, tastings and mixology.

Like all large cruise ships, the Celebrity Silhouette has many onboard shops. A Bulgari jewelry and Michael Kors sportswear shops are two new boutiques for Celebrity.

Celebrity Silhouette Exteriors

The Celebrity Solstice-class ships were the first (and only) ships to feature real grass growing on the top deck at its Lawn Club, and the cruise line has continued this beautiful area on the Celebrity Silhouette.

Celebrity made some significant changes in the Lawn Club area, adding the two new restaurants discussed above and some interesting seating--two over-sized Adirondack chairs and some very comfortable hammocks. The cruise line has also added the Alcoves, which are eight cabana-type Lawn Club sitting areas. These can be rented by the day or the length of the cruise.

The Celebrity Silhouette has on outdoor pool with numerous lounge chairs. It also has an indoor pool called the Solarium.

Celebrity Silhouette Itineraries

The Celebrity Silhouette sails northern Europe and the Mediterranean from the late spring to late fall before repositioning to the Caribbean for the cold winter months.

This is a great ship for those who appreciate the variety of activities, entertainment, and cuisine a large ship can deliver. It's also a great ship for those who like a more elegant, sophisticated atmosphere. The company started with a great base--the Celebrity Solstice, Celebrity Equinox, and the Celebrity Eclipse--and distinguished the new ship by adding a few enhancements that travelers will love.
