If you're looking to spot celebrities at SXSW, you can increase your odds by hanging around these popular sites.

1. The W Hotel

Radio station KGSR broadcasts live from the W Hotel every day during the music festival. Early birds have an advantage here, since the station schedules interviews and live performances during the early-morning drive-time hours. The W is also next door to ACL Live at the Moody Theater, a major music venue. 200 Lavaca Street

2. SoCo

The home of uber-cool Hotel San Jose and the Continental Club, South Congress attracts a lot of movie-industry people. Stake out a spot at Guero’s Taco Bar, enjoy some tacos al pastor and a margarita, and soon the beautiful people will start wandering in. Elijah Wood even has a home in the neighborhood. 1412 South Congress Avenue

3. The Driskill Bar

Matthew McConaughey-hey-hey has been spotted repeatedly at the Driskill Bar, but you’re more likely to see Buck Henry or Luke Wilson. Take a seat at one of the big leather couches and enjoy the parade of starlets and scruffy musicians. 604 Brazos Street

4. Franklin Barbecue

You may have to wait a while if you actually want to eat any of the heavenly slow-cooked brisket at Franklin Barbecue. The restaurant has tried to find equitable ways of keeping the line moving, however. The website now has a pre-order option, but you have to plan several days ahead. With only occasional exceptions (such as President Obama), celebrities also have to wait in line. If you’re still hungry after your stalking session, head down the road to Hillside Farmacy, which should be slightly less of a madhouse. 900 East 11th Street

5. The Paramount Theatre

Movie premieres, concerts and many other high-profile events are held at the Paramount Theatre. Even if you can’t get into the events, there’s a wide sidewalk out front where you can get to know the paparazzi. 713 Congress Avenue

6. Trio Restaurant

Tucked inside the Four Seasons Hotel, Trio Restaurant may be a slightly expensive way to rub elbows with celebrities, but if you can afford the $50 entrees, the celebrity watching here is primo, just like the steaks. 98 San Jacinto Boulevard

7. Whole Foods Market

Famous vegans like Woody Harrelson and Alicia Silverstone have shopped at Austin’s super-sized Whole Foods. With 80,000 square feet, the store offers plenty of places for skinny little waifs to hide. If you get tired of walking around, you can observe the crowd from a fixed position at the coffee bar. 525 North Lamar Boulevard

8. Austin Convention Center

The main headquarters for South by Southwest, the Austin Convention Center is a sprawling complex with many doors you can hover around. This is where you’re most likely to see high-profile musicians and film directors on their way to and from speaking appearances. 500 East Cesar Chavez Street

9. Long Center

Just south of downtown, the Long Center and the surrounding grounds are used for indoor and outdoor performances. You may also spot health-conscious actors and musicians on the nearby Lady Bird Lake hike and bike trail. 701 West Riverside Drive

10. Maggie Mae’s

A sprawling club on 6th Street, Maggie Mae’s plays host to numerous music showcases. The sheer size of the place means that you have a good shot at spotting someone famous if you hang around long enough. 323 East 6th Street
