The Latin singing sensation arrived in Miami from her native Cuba at the age of 2. Estefan's life story is tied closely to Miami.
Her singing career began when she was the lead singer of the group Miami Latin Boys which evolved into the Miami Sound Machine. Her first hit song was "Conga" in 1985.
In 1990, an accident almost took her life and came very close to ending her career. During this time, Miami residents inundated her with cards, flowers, and well-wishes. When Hurricane Andrew struck in 1992, Estefan was there for the city that loved her; she arranged and performed in a benefit concert raising millions of dollars for the victims.
Enrique is the son of legend Julio Iglesias, but he has charted his own path in the music industry. Having grown up in Miami, he adds an American flair to his songs and hit super-stardom hit in 1999 with the song "Bailamos" which means "We Dance" in Spanish. He lives in Miami Beach.
Retired tennis player Kournikova Anna lives in Miami Beach. She never won a singles tennis title but won the Australian Open in 1999 and 2002 as part of a doubles team with Martina Hingis.
