  • IMPORTANT - The big Macy's fireworks in NYC are back over the East River, but from the Brooklyn Bridge. There will be a view from the Queens waterfront, but not as good as Brooklyn and lower Manhattan. Rats!

Here's a guide to 4th of July fireworks and all Independence Day celebrations in Queens, New York.

Macy's Fireworks Over the East Rive - July 4, 2014

They're back! After a few years over the distant Hudson River, the Mac's July 4 Fireworks show is over the East River this year.

They will be visible from the western Queens, but not so perfect. The show will be centered around the Brooklyn Bridge. How much will you see from the Long Island City waterfront? You won't be thrilled, but sometimes it's better to get out there and see something in person, rather than watch it on a screen.

Fireworks in Astoria Park - June 30, 2014:

Get an early start to July 4th weekend with live music and fireworks in Astoria Park on Monday, June 30. The Central Astoria Development Corporation sponsors this very early Independence Day celebration. There will be live music from the Queens Symphony Orchestra. After the music is a spectacular Grucci fireworks show.

  • When: Monday, June 30, 2014, music starting at 7:30 p.m.
