Cassandra Brooklyn is a freelance writer, guidebook author, photographer, and the founder of EscapingNY, a "non-touristy" travel consultancy. She stumbled into travel writing after a three-month hitchhiking adventure across Cuba and went on to author the cycling guidebook, "Cuba by Bike." She specializes in active and outdoor travel, sustainable and ethical travel, and all things biking, hiking, and camping.
