After Lightning McQueen, Mater, and friends lit up the big screen, fans of Pixar’s groundbreaking “Cars” franchise have enjoyed seeing characters from all the movies at various locations in the Hollywood Studios portion of the park.
Whether you take a high-speed loop like Lightning McQueen or snap a picture with Mater, you'll have a blast with these great "Cars" picks. And even when the "Cars" characters aren't involved, Walt Disney World offers some great car-related rides and attractions to introduce kids of all ages to the thrills of driving.
Book a Stay at Radiator Springs
Gear up for a high-octane vacation by booking a stay at Disney's Art of Animation Resort. The Cars-themed Radiator Springs wing provides plenty of photo opportunities with life-size characters from the movies, and kids will feel the power of being behind the wheel in the themed family guest suites outfitted for adventure.
The Cozy Cone pool in the Cars section is the only one out of three at the Animation Resort offering cabanas. Not only do they provide shaded relief from the hot summer sun, but this amenity is free!
Pixar Place in Disney's Hollywood Studios
Pixar Place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is the best place at Walt Disney World in Orlando to get your fix of “Cars” characters. Here, kids can meet the star of Disney and Pixar's "Cars 3" film Cruz Ramirez or visit their old friend Lightning McQueen.
Though the Lightning McQueen & Mater Meet & Greet at Hollywood Studios closed in 2016, you can still catch a photo of your child with one of the “Cars” stars here.
Test Track at Epcot
If your "Cars" fans are a bit older and want to experience the thrill of speeding around a track at high speeds, Test Track at Walt Disney World's Epcot Resort is the perfect ride for them. "Cars" fans will definitely enjoy zipping around the longest and fastest ride in Walt Disney World!
Test Track takes riders through a mock-up of a real-life safety testing facility, with a few surprises thrown in for fun. This ride does have a height restriction, so use the rider switch program if your little one is not tall enough (or daring enough) to ride.
If your child is tall enough and has already tried and enjoyed the Barnstormer and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, they may be ready to try Test Track.
Grab Lunch or Dinner at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant
Hop in a Doc-lookalike to get your "Cars" fans revved up at mealtime with an old-fashioned drive-in experience at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios.
Although none of the cars here are actual characters from the movies, they sure evoke the feeling of Doc Hudson. Diners sit in a car watching classic science fiction flicks and enjoy being served by carhops; you can even pretend your vehicle is one of the newer characters in "Cars" to help your children use their imaginations.
While the dining is casual, the menu is quite extensive but relatively on par with other restaurants in terms of price. Some Disney dining plans are accepted, but advance reservations are strongly recommended as seats in this part of the park are likely to fill up.
