California Family Fitness is a chain of 16 gyms all local to the Sacramento region. Focusing on the entire family rather than a single individual, “Cal Fit” is perfectly suited for every member of the family from toddler to senior. Since it’s only available in the Sacramento region and neighboring counties, you’ll enjoy a great workout experience not available elsewhere in California.

About Cal Fit

California Family Fitness has been around for over 20 years and has been featured continuously on Best of Sacramento and KCRA A-List winner boards. They have been locally owned and operated since 1991, which means their employees understand life in Sacramento and how to best cater to its residents.

The Cal Fit philosophy is to cater to the family instead of the individual. They exemplify this mantra by providing classes for literally every age group. From tumbling class for your preschoolers to water aerobics for your mother-in-law, there is something for everyone. Each of the 16 gyms vary in what they offer (ie: not all have swimming pools), but all locations offer fitness classes, childcare, and special amenities.

Personal Training

Personal training is an impactful feature of Cal Fit, as it allows you to learn about your body, realize your limits beyond what you ever thought possible and also give you a launching point for your own fitness goals. From body fit challenges to TRX training, there are various facets of one-on-one training that can be beneficial. They also provide triathlon training for those feeling particularly ambitious.

Programs and Classes

Cal Fit features a variety of classes including strength training, fitness, cardio athletic classes, yoga, and pilates. Certain sites also offer spinning, aqua fitness, and more. For an additional fee, you can take group or private swim lessons, receive performance swim training, or rent a field or court at a Cal Fit gym for your next event.

Kidz Klub

Cal Fit focuses on the entire family first, which is what makes their children’s program top-notch. All employees go through a rigorous background check and receive proper training for working with children of all ages. Childcare is available for infants through teens, so you don’t need to worry about what the kids are up to as you work out. At Kidz Klub, they party on with craft days, a Wii station, tumbling, dramatic play, story-time, and sports. After you’re done, enjoy a snack together as a family or jump in the pool.

Children can enjoy the various kid-friendly spray gardens at select gyms, which feature jungle gym play structures that continuously stream water. They can also have fun on the traditional indoor and outdoor playgrounds or the rock-climbing wall.

California Family Fitness has 16 locations in Sacramento, so you can choose which one is best for you.

Membership Prices

California Family Fitness’ prices vary throughout the year due to multiple promotions. However, families of 3-5 people can expect to pay around $110 per month, plus enrollment fees. Cal Fit offers discounts to various employers, including SMUD, PG&E and more. For example, a SMUD employee may pay as little as $88/mo. While Cal Fit is certainly not the most economical option, it is arguably the most convenient and full service with multiple locations within a close proximity plus diverse childcare options. Call the closest Cal Fit location to you if you’d like to find out the date of their next open house or discount day.

Members each get five VIP passes for friends and family per month, per adult in household. For example, a married couple with three children would receive 10 passes per month. You can also opt to provide your close friends or family members’ contact information with your gym manager to provide them with a two-week free trial of their own.
