When: Monday nights, June 22–August 24, 2015; lawn opens at 5pm, films screen 30 minutes after sunset
Where: Bryant Park is located between 40th & 42nd Sts. and 5th & 6th Aves.
One of Manhattan's most-loved outdoor cinema events, the long-running HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, now in its 23rd year, landed in Bryant Park on June 22, 2015. Running on Monday nights through August 24, the lineup of free screenings spans legendary films, kicking off the program with Ghostbusters and winding it down with Back to the Future.
Films roll just after sundown (typically between 8pm and 9pm), though the lawn opens at 5pm, so come early to throw down a blanket and secure a good spot. Note that it's open-lawn seating, and there's a laundry list of no-gos for the event: no chairs or tables, plastic sheets or tarps, alcohol, or pups are permitted on the lawn. As a safeguard, all bags and backpacks are subject to search. If you're arriving by bike, there's free parking available at the nearby Pétanque Courts (6th Ave. and 41st St.).
The 2015 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival lineup is as follows:
- June 22: Ghostbusters
- June 29: The Killers
- July 6: The Poseidon Adventure
- July 13: I'm No Angel
- July 20: Badlands
- July 27: Footloose
- August 3: Marathon Man
- August 10: Desk Set
- August 17: Chinatown
- August 24: Back to the Future
