A little under two hours' drive due south of London, the historic seaside resort of Brighton has steadily developed into the premier gay resort destination in the United Kingdom, as there are plenty of gay bars, restaurants, and hotels here catering to the community. In early August, already a popular time for vacationers, the city along with the neighboring town of Hove (combined population of 375,000) host Brighton & Hove Gay Pride.
This year's date of the Brighton Pride Parade and Festival is August 6, 2016, but there are Pride-related events held here throughout the preceding days, from July 22 to August 7.
A big highlight is the Brighton Pride Arts and Film Festival, which comprises more than 20 performances and related events over the two main weeks of Pride.
The Brighton Gay Pride Parade, which draws some 160,000 participants and spectators each year, takes place at 11 am on Saturday, August 6 - the procession starts by the iconic Brighton Wheel, on Madeira Drive. That same day, the Bright Pride Festival continues from noon until 10 pm at Preston Park and features a slew of talents.
