The BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter is a powerful charger, but its large size makes it tough to travel with—especially if you’re not checking a bag.
We purchased the BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter so our reviewer could put it to the test. Keep reading for our full product review.
You’d think most travel adapters would offer roughly the same features, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Some adapters include USB ports and some don’t. Some focus on being compact, while others are larger and offer more power. Some come with removable outlet adapters, and some have them built right in. Needless to say, you’ve got options.
The BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter delivers big on power, but with that comes more bulk. There are a few things about the BESTEK that make it a great option but there are also a few drawbacks depending on your traveling style. We took this adapter on our trip to Swedish Lapland to see how it really worked.
The adapter comes with converters that work in more than 150 countries around the world, including Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, China, and Europe.
This adapter can also charge up to seven devices at one time. There are also different types of ports on the BESTEK, including four USB ports and three AC outlets with a max of 250W of power (a quicker charge than the USB ports).
The way this adapter is set up, it can charge up to seven devices at one time.
Also, we love that it includes a five-foot detachable cable, which adds some flexibility to the design, especially when you’re in hotel rooms with inconvenient outlet placement.
The BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter is more of a power strip than an individual outlet adapter. With its three plugs and multiple USB ports, it’s a sizable piece of equipment that isn’t necessarily easy to pack. It does come with a travel bag that makes keeping track of the three removable plug adapters and main power strip easier—but not any more carry-on-friendly.
The five-foot detachable cord may be one of our favorite aspects of this adapter. The removable outlet adapters, on the other hand, seem like a good idea on paper, but they quickly become annoying add-ons that awkwardly add bulk to the travel bag.
The removable outlet adapters seem like a good idea on paper, but they quickly become annoying add-ons that awkwardly add bulk to the travel bag.
The option of having USB outlets with less power and AC plugs with more power is nice, but we found ourselves opting for the increase in power every time. The USB ports might come in handy if you were to lose your iPhone wall charger, but you probably won’t ever need four of them.
There’s a removable cord for the BESTEK travel adapter, which makes unboxing and setup super easy. The removable outlet adapters also make it easy to find the one you’re looking for. There are no hidden tricks to getting the removable plug onto the power strip—it really is as easy as it looks—and the removable cord plugs right into one of the USB ports.
There are certainly cheaper travel adapters than this one, but you get what you pay for in terms of power. If you aren’t concerned about how compact your adapter is, this is a good option for the $40 price tag.
Again, you can find cheaper options available, but you’ll likely sacrifice charging time. The long charging cord on this adapter is a true plus, though it does take up more room. Many other adapters on the market don’t even use cords—they attach directly into the outlet—which is something to consider.
Compared to more compact options, the size of the BESTEK adapter is its main drawback. You’ll find smaller options with the Epicka and Bonazza travel adapters, and both of them have all of the features as the BESTEK charger. But if size isn’t necessarily a concern for you when it comes to your carry-on, the BESTEK’s power almost justifies it against other options.
Also, the fact it has more than one outlet for plugging in devices also makes it worth the extra space. Its flat shape does make it easy to pack in a bag, too, which is another factor that you won’t necessarily find with other chargers as they tend to be blockier.
If you’re not worried about your travel adapter taking up a bunch of space, the BESTEK Universal Travel Adapter is a great option. The speed at which it charges devices almost makes up for its size, but the noisiness of the gadget makes it hard to choose over other options.
