This is not the standard DFW Tex-Mex concept: $8 margaritas, beans & rice, and 95 dinner combinations to choose from. Rusty's philosophy: "Relax Dallas."  This former-brakes-place-turned-taquería has $2 handmade tacos and a menu that consists of tacos, chips/salsa/queso/guacamole, and beverages. You can't go wrong with a $5 margarita. The namesake taco is achiote pork with grilled pineapple, and it's all about the taco here.

Some of the best Tex-Mex food is served up in a cozy location that has become a family tradition for generations. Mia's is famous for its house specialty: Butch’s Original Brisket Tacos. After you try one you’ll want to hug Mama Mia herself! Two tender brisket tacos are filled with Monterey Jack cheese, grilled onions, and zesty poblano peppers. Served with a delicious brisket gravy, fresh avocado slices, rice, and beans in your choice of homemade flour or corn tortillas.

These Bandidos are well known for their fabulous food, sticking to traditional family recipes and infusing a few new twists. Feast on the most popular item on the menu: Desperado’s Tacos. Two crispy flour tortillas come topped with gooey melted Monterrey Jack cheese, beef or chicken fajita meat to create this signature dish.

These Baja-style tacos include fresh lettuce, tomatoes, garlic sauce, cheese and are then topped with feta cheese. Bring your Fuzzy's plastic cup when you go and it's free tea. That can save you a buck or two.

What happens when you can’t make up your mind while looking at the menu? You go back for brunch and sample everything. Mattito's Sunday Buffet has a taco bar to satisfy all your taco cravings plus they serve up a variety of delicious Mexican-inspired fare. The Baja Chicken is addictive. Rudy’s puts the “Tex” in Tex-Mex. Primarily known as a barbecue restaurant, Rudy's makes a breakfast delight that isn’t your Pappacito’s taco. Chopped brisket and scrambled eggs wrapped inside a flour tortilla make a winning combination that’s (pardon the pun) unbeatable. If you’ve never had a breakfast taco, you’re missing out on a wonderful way to start the day.

This trendy urban restaurant’s concept captures the bold flavors found in Mexico City’s traditional taquerias. Taco Diner offers a lighter approach to Mexican cooking in a fun, high-energy atmosphere. It’s difficult to decide which of the nine taco varieties to order. Al pastor chicken or pork is marinated in an achiote-citrus blend and served inside mini handmade corn tortillas. Experiment with the garnishes to create your own flavor profile with chopped cilantro, onion, a squeeze of lime, and the hot-yet-sweet jalapeño relish.

The Lone Star state is primarily carnivore country. However, if you’re vegan, vegetarian or anyone who prefers a more health conscience/environmentally friendly meal, there are veggie tacos in Dallas to rival any in the country. The Trinity Taco Platter features soft tacos filled with onions, mushrooms, zucchini, bell peppers and cheddar cheese. It’s served with black beans, rice, and salad. Where’s the beef? You won't find it here. This platter is as delicious as it is colorful.

Enjoy the rich culture of Coastal Mexico through the fresh and flavorful cuisine at La Calle Doce. This charming renovated house opened its doors for the first time in 1981 in the recently trendy Oak Cliff area. Tacos de Mahi Mahi is a unique California-style taco accompanied by a special cream sauce and served with Mexican slaw, jicama salad, and rice. Although known for their unique seafood dishes, it’s difficult to pass on the Tacos de carne deshebrada, or shredded beef in flour tortillas with guacamole.

    Fuel City

Fuel City is open 24 hours to feed your need for tacos. It's the one place you can fill up your tank and your stomach at the same time. Try the grilled chicken, pastor, picadillo or barbacoa. Muy delicioso! They come topped off with fresh cilantro, onion or a squeeze of lime. It's authentic—the real deal—not your usual tex-mex, overstuffed with lettuce and tomato tacos. Inexpensive: $1.50 a taco. It's also a take-out place.
