Best Overall: The Silver Legacy Resort and Casino

The Silver Legacy Resort and Casino

The Silver Legacy Resort and Casino

The Silver Legacy Resort and Casino at THE ROW (a complex that includes two other hotels) has 1,685 rooms and suites to choose from, and is connected to Circus Circus hotel by an indoor walkway. It is more modern than nearby hotels in the same price range.

The hotel’s pool deck was recently renovated and showcases an outdoor pool with gorgeous mountain views, hot tub and cabanas, and onsite lounges and bars that make for an electric nightlife.

Big headlining acts swing through on weekends, and the hotel hosts comedy shows nightly. Plus, there is a full-service spa and fitness center for those who may need to recover after too much nightlife.

And if you're looking for local attractions, The Silver Legacy Resort and Casino is nearby the National Bowling Stadium, the Reno Aces Ballpark, and the Nevada Museum of Art.

Best for Families: Grand Sierra Resort and Casino

Grand Sierra Resort and Casino

Grand Sierra Resort and Casino

More contemporary than many of the outdated Reno hotels, the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is an upscale property just a 10-minute drive from downtown Reno.

It’s not within walking distance of other casinos, but you don’t need to worry because there is plenty to do on the premisis. Enjoy an on-site casino, a beach-style outdoor pool with a full-service bar, a driving range, big-name music headliners, and a bunch of restaurants and lounges.

The 1,900 contemporary rooms have “spa-inspired” bathrooms with a touch of striking, dark marble. The hotel has a large spa and fitness center and even space for RV hookups.

Your little ones can get their playtime in at Grand Adventure Land, with the Ultimate Rush thrill ride and an adrenaline-packed go-kart course. Or, bring them to Fun Quest—the largest arcade in northern Nevada—complete with a laser tag arena, carnival midway, a massive kids’ play area, a 50-lane Bowling Center and a cinema.

Best Airport Hotel: Hyatt Place Reno Tahoe Airport

Hyatt Place Reno Tahoe Airport

Hyatt Place Reno Tahoe Airport

Located right off Interstate 580, the 126-room Hyatt Place Reno Tahoe Airport hotel has free self-parking and offers a shuttle service to and from the nearby airport. It is also close to area attractions such as the Nevada Museum of Art, the Reno Riverwalk, and the National Automobile Museum.

The rooms at the hotel all have free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with cable channels, sofa beds, mini-fridges, and coffee makers. Plus, there is an indoor swimming pool and a 24-hour fitness center on site.

During your stay, you can enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet, and there is also a coffee shop, a cocktail lounge, and a market that sells prepared foods 24 hours a day.

Some guests have complained of noise from the expressway and the airport, but that seems like a realistic price to pay for such easy access to the airport. Also, World of Hyatt rewards program members can earn and redeem points with a stay here.

Best for Romance: The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino

The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino

The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino

The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino has a modern, glass exterior, but the inside exudes a romantic Tuscan theme, highlighted in its domed entrance, hallway paintings, and detailed and abundant statuary.

While not a small or intimate hotel (it has over 1,600 rooms), you and your sweetheart can choose from a variety of suites and should go for one with a mountain view, Whirlpool, and balcony.

There is also a beautiful outdoor pool area and a large spa. While it is a 10-minute drive from the downtown area, you'll appreciate getting away from the hustle and bustle of the center.

For those who love to gamble, the hotel has an on-site casino with slot machines and card tables, as well as a race and sportsbook. Romantic dinner options abound, including steak at Bimini Steakhouse, Peking duck at Chi, seafood at Oceano, and Italian at Romanza.

Best for Singles: Eldorado Resort Casino

Eldorado Resort

Eldorado Resort

Located smack in the center of downtown Reno—just around the corner from the National Bowling Stadium and the Reno Events Center—the neon-lit, palatial, Eldorado Resort Casino is one of the main hotels that make up THE ROW.

This area is where you can also visit the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino and Circus Circus Hotel & Resort.

Best for Kitsch: Circus Circus Hotel & Casino Reno

Circus Circus Hotel & Casino Reno

Circus Circus Hotel & Casino Reno

This circus-themed, 1,500-plus-room hotel built in 1978 has not seen many updates since in its kitschy decor. But part of it its charm is the fact that it's so over the top.

Like many other destinations in Reno, the Circus Circus Hotel & Casino is popular with families for its carnival and arcade games, as well as daily circus shows. Guest rooms include cable TV, free Wi-Fi, and coffee makers.

There’s an airport shuttle service if you arrive by plane, and free car and RV parking if you're traveling by land. Scooter rentals are available, too. Adults can indulge in table games and slots, and there are frequent sporting events the whole family can enjoy.

Food choices are abundant, with options including Yogurt Beach, The Habit Burger Grill, Panda Express, Piezzetta Pizza Kitchen, El Jefe’s Cantina, and Kanpai Sushi. There is also Madame Butterworks Curious Cafe, which serves breakfast, and Sips Coffee and Tea for quick pick-me-ups.

While this hotel is part of a huge resort complex, you should be aware that it is definitely mid-range and is in no way pretending to be a luxury hotel. Rooms are spacious and clean, but dated.

Best Pet-Friendly: Whitney Peak Hotel

Whitney Peak Hotel

Whitney Peak Hotel

Most of the hotels in Reno are filled with gaming, so they tend to be loud and bright—things many traveling pets do not appreciate.

The luxurious Whitney Peak Hotel is a non-gaming, smoke-free establishment with 310 rooms and suites. The space is also adjacent to the Reno Arch, within a five-minute walk of several casinos and dozens of shops.

If you're traveling with kids, rollaway beds and cribs are available upon request, and adjoining rooms can be requested for groups who are traveling together. While the Whitney Peak Hotel is pet-friendly, you must agree to never leave animals unattended in the rooms.

All accommodations at the Whitney Peak come with either two double queen beds or one King size bed, 40-inch HD Samsung TVs, a sitting area, working desk, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi.

Best Casino: Atlantis Casino Resort

Atlantis Casino Resort

Atlantis Casino Resort

The Atlantis resort’s casino has over 1,400 slot machines, video-poker machines, and plenty of table games. Plus, it even offers a fully non-smoking poker room.

In terms of convenience, the Atlantis Casino Resort is just an easy, five-minute walk to events at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. While luxury amenities are offered, including Jacuzzi suites, the biggest amenity might be the privileged views of the Sierra Nevada.

There are eight restaurants in total, with many that offer live entertainment. Whether it’s casual snacks or gourmet dinners that you are looking for, you won’t need to leave the premises.

To unwind after gaming on the casino floor that spans over 64,000 square feet, you can take advantage of one of northern Nevada’s most beloved spas, which is onsite. And, when it's time for you to go home, the hotel can arrange complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport.

Best for Business: Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel

Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel

Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel

Located in the West University neighborhood of Reno on the Truckee River Riverwalk, the Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel has enough entertainment to offer, but not too much to distract you from your work.

Just 3.4 miles from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, this hotel has 186 smoke-free rooms and suites, 24-hour room service, bike rental, and Mediterranean-inspired food at the casual fine-dining restaurant The Shore Room.

In your spare time, you can enjoy indoor-outdoor bocce ball courts, along with a fitness center, an outdoor pool, and games such as skee-ball, darts, shuffleboard, air hockey, and pool tables.

For less active entertainment, there is a river observatory. The Renaissance Reno Downtown Hotel is only a two-minute walk from the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts and a quick taxi ride from the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center and the Nevada Historical Society.

Rooms and suites are outfitted with luxury bedding, plug-in media panels, flat-panel TVs and high-speed Wi-Fi. If you're hosting a business or social gathering, you can reserve one of the multiple event venues.
