Do you like donuts? Of course! Who doesn't like donuts? Deep fried dough? With sugar added? That is recipe for great taste.

If you are wondering where the best donuts in Kentucky and Indiana are, here are five worthy contenders. Many opt for the maple bacon donuts at Nord’s while others say Please & Thank You has the best donuts, even if they don’t have them every day. Plus, there are those that are brand loyal to the big dogs: Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme.

Whatever your preference, every day is a good day to enjoy a donut. If you are looking for celebratory occasions, remember National Donut Day is June 6 and many opt for these baked delights during Mardi Gras. And now, without further ado, the donuts...

Nord’s Bakery

Located next to Sunergos Coffee—the original location on Preston—Nord’s is a popular spot for chocolate and powdered donuts. Feeling extra decadent? Try the maple donut topped with bacon. This Germantown bakery is a neighborhood favorite.

If you pay attention you will notice there are donuts there from time to time. If you happen to stop in on a day without donuts on the menu, simply try another treat, you won’t be disappointed.

The ice cream is homemade, of course.

Chains - Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme

While a donut from each of these is drastically different, they are together on this list as they are chain stores rather than local independents. That said, there is a time and a place for a donut (or a dozen for the office) from Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme. Plus, these nationally known brands have specials than can be quite captivating. For instance, on National Donut Day, June 6, both Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme are giving out FREE donuts. At participating Dunkin’ Donuts a donut is free with purchase of a beverage, at participating Krispy Kreme locations donuts are simply free. Ask around or check the company websites for details.
