There are plenty of Khajuraho hotels to suit all budgets from cheap to luxury, and many of them are located close to the Khajuraho temples. Plus, funky new backpacker hostels have recently opened up, such as Headquarter and Moustache. The hotels usually have vacancies, especially during the low season. It can be a good idea to have a look around Khajuraho when you arrive, select a hotel that you like and negotiate a discount. However, do be aware that there are a lot people in Khajuraho who will try to take you to hotels that give them a commission, so do be careful. The hotel's extensive gardens are beautifully landscaped and the hotel is located only a short walk from the main Western temple complex, the Archeological Museum, and the Tribal Art Museum. Some guest rooms even have a temple view, as the hotel's name suggests. And, there's a small temple on the property too. Inside, the hotel is modern and luxurious, having been extensively renovated in 2007. Guests can relax and be serenaded by live music at night, beside the illuminated swimming pool. You'll appreciate the peace and tranquility! Expect to pay 12,000 rupees per night including tax for a double room during the tourist season in winter. Discounts of around 50% are often available online during summer and the monsoon season.

Hotel Isabel Palace is a relatively new hotel that's become a favorite with budget travelers. Built in 2011, it's located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the main Western group of temples. The hotel has a distinctive white marble look and its 14 rooms are clean and airy, with lovely balconies overlooking the garden. The water is hot, the wireless Internet is fast, the service is outstanding and there's a fabulous rooftop terrace too. The only drawback is that it's away from the town center -- it will take you around 15 minutes to walk there. Room rates start from around 2,000 rupees per night.

Another hotel that's very popular with budget travelers, Hotel Harmony has a handy central location in town and is also just around the corner from the Western group of temples. The ambiance is distinctly Spanish, with delightful garden setting incorporating stone courtyard and lotus pond. There are 45 rooms to choose from and all have private balconies overlooking the garden. Hotel staff are relaxed and friendly and there's a helpful travel desk. The daily yoga and meditation classes are an added bonus. Room rates start from about 1,000 rupees per night, depending on the size of the room and whether it's air conditioned. Cheap and cheerful, the Zen Hotel is in the same area as Hotel Harmony and lives up to its name with with a Zen inspired garden and Buddha sculptures that create a very serene environment. The hotel has an excellent garden restaurant too. Yoga, meditation and massage are also on offer. Rates start from 650 rupees per night for a non-air conditioned room.

On the opposite side of town to The Lalit, The Chandela Hotel is a decent upscale hotel that's situated on spacious landscaped grounds within walking distance of the temples. The hotel has plenty of amenities, including swimming pool, and represents quality at an affordable price. You should be able to pick up a double room for around 5,000 rupees per night, including tax. Rates drop dramatically during the low season.
