Best for Food: Carmelo Resort & Spa
The Carmelo Resort & Spa is situated in the heart of the Uruguayan countryside, with plenty of opportunities for river sailing, exploring by horseback, touring small local wineries and playing a round of golf on the superb 18-hole Carmelo golf course.
The UNESCO-status colonial city of Colonia de Sacramento is only a short distance away, and there are also bicycles and a network of hiking trails at the resort.
The resort is constructed with beautiful local stone and timbers and resembles a cavernous country farmhouse filled with rustic finery. While the tranquil courtyard, surrounded by leafy eucalyptus trees and with a cascading, multi-level pool, and Chandra Spa and Fitness Center provide opportunities for indulgent relaxation, the dining experience is the main drawcard of the property.
Pura restaurant, set in a grand dining room with a huge fireplace, prepares traditional Uruguayan asado using open-flame cooking techniques and the finest of local meat cuts. A variety of gourmet international and Mediterranean dishes round out the menu, accompanied by an extensive selection of award-winning wines housed in the private wine cellar (full-bodied Tannat is the unique local varietal).
The Rio Bar offers a regionally-inspired seafood menu on a scenic alfresco terrace adjacent to the pool, while the Mandara Bar pours wines and cocktails in an opulent setting of leather couches and candlelight chandeliers.
Best Diving: Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa
Set on a private island with soft white sands, lush tropical vegetation, and crystal-clear waters, the Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa is a diver’s paradise. Just off the coast, Hawksbill turtles and Black-tipped Reef sharks can be spotted on guided snorkeling tours through colorful coral formations.

Voted as the Best Golf Course in San Antonio, the 27-hole championship golf course at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa is the centerpiece of this sprawling country estate resort.
