Expansive and modern, 387-room Grand Hyatt Tokyo is located in the Japanese capital’s Roppongi Hills complex in Minato, an area known for its designer boutiques and art galleries. 

The hotel features several bars, including Maduro, and a jazz lounge pouring specialty whiskies from Japan, Scotland, and Canada, in addition to seasonal cocktails like mango martinis and peach mojitos. Its wellness services include a fitness center, a red granite indoor pool, and a spa for deep-tissue massages which utilizes the hotel’s yuzu and ginger oil blend. Travelers checking in with children receive a welcome kit with yukata (cotton, kimono-like robe).

Previous guests note that guest rooms seem larger than expected, especially in a city where elbow room is a premium. As a full-service hotel, Grand Hyatt Tokyo also houses a beauty salon, boasts a fragrance shop, and offers business services, concierge, in-room dining, and electric vehicle charging. The hotel is located near more than 200 shops, restaurants, bars, and entertainment options. Plus, the Roppongi train station is a mere minute's walk away, offering easy access to popular areas like Ginza and more traditional parts of Tokyo, like Yanaka.

Guests checking into the beachfront Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, in the island’s western parts, will enjoy a welcome beverage from the open-air lobby, which eschews the traditional check-in desk in favor of low-slung seating. It’s also anchored by a sand pit, where a skylight hovers overhead. Four ocean-facing, cascading infinity pools (including a shallow wading pool) are defining features of this hotel. There are several options to dine at the resort, including Ka’ana Kitchen for family-style dining, Morimoto Maui for a blend of Western and Asian cuisines, Bumbye Beach Bar located near the lagoon pool for small bites, and Lehua Lounge for sunset cocktails. The resort recently introduced a sunset dining experience on Wednesdays and Fridays, consisting of a four-course prix-fixe menu with Champagne pairings–perfect for celebrating a special occasion or just spoiling yourself.

Though the daily resort fee is pricey, it includes unique amenities like daily outrigger canoe rides and stand-up paddleboard lessons, twice-weekly mixology classes, GoPro rental, and a photo session. 

Its 320 rooms, suites, and villas combine modern design with coastal touches. Villa bookings include daily breakfast, complimentary valet parking, and daily dining credit. Guests can also explore the Wailea area courtesy of the hotel’s car shuttles (availability based on first come first serve).

Ten interconnecting pools, a “beach,” and a three-story water slide set across 2.5 acres keeps kids thoroughly entertained during a stay at Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa. Families can also indulge in water volleyball and basketball, and scale its rock-climbing wall. The Arizona destination resort even employs Pooltime Planners to help guests make the most of its water features and activities. They’ll point you in the direction of family float races, poolside lawn games, and more. 

The resort’s 493 rooms and suites come with private balconies or terraces. Some, like the Casita Suite, include a fireplace and a rooftop deck. An adults-only outdoor pool, spa with a Himalayan salt room, fitness center and group fitness classes, tennis courts, and exclusive guest access to the nearby golf course are also offered. 

Families can enjoy some of the complimentary hotel experiences together like Arizona Birds of Prey Take Flight, an educational program that showcases rescued hawks. For some more adventure, you can take your family on a hike; the Scottsdale area has over 400 miles of trails. If you’d rather stay indoors, the city’s OdySeaAquarium and Butterfly Wonderland are great for more kid-friendly activities.

There are two ways to play at adults-only Thompson Playa del Carmen. The two-in-one resort is less than a two-hour drive south of Cancun and is divided into its Main House and Beach House. Both buildings offer modern-bohemian-styled guest rooms. Pro tip: Those who want to be directly on the sand might opt to stay in the Beach House. It's a 10-minute walk away and includes complimentary lounge chairs, poolside and oceanfront cabanas, a seaside dining option, and complimentary yoga.

The Main House’s primary attraction is its rooftop infinity pool and lounge area with 360-degree palm tree-laced and ocean views, two restaurants, and a swim-up bar. In 2022, Queer Destinations, an international consulting and accreditation organization, recognized Thompson Playa del Carmen as a safe and friendly hotel for members of the LGBTQ+ community.

As part of Hyatt’s Boundless portfolio of hotels, this boutique resort is centrally located on Quinta Avenida, the main corridor flush with bars, restaurants, clothing boutiques, and souvenir shops. 

Mission Pacific Hotel is an oceanfront property located in Oceanside, in San Diego’s northern parts. The 161–room, southern California resort opened in 2021 and features modern coastal-inspired décor in pastel tones, balconies with cushioned seating, and little nooks for you to read and work in. You might recognize one of the cottages on the property, also known as the “Top Gun House” that was featured in the 1986 film starring Tom Cruise. In 2022, it reopened as HIGH-Pie, a pie shop serving hand pies with dipping sauces like lemon curd, and sea salt caramel.

There is a rooftop pool with loungers and cabana rentals, a clubhouse, and a bar, all of which offer views of Oceanside Pier and the Pacific ocean. Celebrated Baja California-inspired restaurant Valle pours a variety of wines from Mexico’s Valle de Guadalupe (including from Bruma and Mina Penélope), while High/Low serves more casual dishes like fried chicken sandwiches and shrimp rolls.

The hotel gym houses more up-to-date cardio and strength training machines than other hotels, and daily yoga and other fitness classes are included as part of its daily destination fee. Also included are beach rentals, access to water-fill stations, and a surfboard valet. 

In 2022, Hyatt’s Caption hotels hope to take a neighborhood approach to its budget-friendly, select-service brand of hotels. Its first location welcomes guests to Memphis, Tennessee, with a mix of multi-functional communal and in-room spaces. For example, Talk Shop will serve as Caption by Hyatt Beale Street Memphis’s check-in, lounge, and workspace area, and will extend from the ground floor to an open patio and beer garden with fire pits. There will also be a restaurant, a grab-and-go bar for local eats, and a fitness center. Local food and beverage partners include Good Girl Grits and Grind City Brewing. Part of the hotel is also integrated with Memphis’ historic William C. Ellis & Sons Ironworks and Machine Shop building—one of the city’s oldest and longest-running businesses. 

Its 136 rooms (some with views of the Mississippi River) include work-lounge seating, rain showers, and colorful, stylish décor. World of Hyatt members can check in with its app, and guests can choose to check-in through the self-service kiosk or with a human. Non-member guests can also check-in by mobile phone, opt for mobile key service, as well as utilize on-demand food ordering from their phone. 

Amara Spa at Park Hyatt Dubai, set along Dubai Creek and adjacent to a golf and yacht club, is a standout wellness space for travelers seeking self-care treatments and rituals. Within the spa’s white-washed walls draped in bougainvillea, guests can enjoy hot stone massages and vitamin C facials as part of its extensive service menu. Individual and couples’ packages are available, like the signature 190-minute Amara Couple Journey, which begins with a sandalwood powder and Dead Sea salt body exfoliation, a body wrap before a massage, and a facial. The resort is also home to a Rossano Ferretti hair salon, a fitness center with floor-to-ceiling windows, and a family-friendly outdoor pool dotted with palm trees.

Its 223 rooms and suites all come with a private balcony or terrace, and some look out across Dubai Creek. Park Hyatt Dubai is located further away from the beachfront and attractions, but the tradeoff is a more secluded and tranquil environment than is typically associated with the bustling city.
