The stunning red desert serves as a backdrop at the resort, which also offers a full-service spa with nature-inspired treatments such as honey sea salt scrubs or lavender and clay skin hydration treatments. Rooms lead directly to the outdoors, with modern décor and pet-friendly options available.

The New Life Hiking Spa in Vermont has been helping travelers stay active for nearly 40 years by bringing fitness programs outdoors. The hotel combines a rustic stay in the Green Mountains with guided hikes, yoga, fitness classes and healthy meals. Accommodations are basic, but comfortable with exposed brick walls, private baths, Internet and television. Some TripAdvisor members noted that parts of the hotel are showing its age and may be in need of a refresh. The hiking spa is fairly remote, but if guests need a change of scenery several quaint country towns are a short drive away.

Located a short stroll from Times Square, the EVEN Hotel is one of the latest from the IHG lifestyle hotel group and places an emphasis on staying healthy while traveling. There’s fitness equipment located right in the guestroom, a fitness center that’s open 24 hours and an on-site market and bar that features fresh juice, as well as healthy grab-and-go food items. Plus, there are flavored water stations in the lobby. Hotel décor is airy and upbeat, with colorful motifs in guestrooms, mood lighting, glass-enclosed showers and premium eucalyptus bed linens. TripAdvisor members appreciated the hotel’s convenient Midtown location near Penn Station, making attractions such as Central Park or the High Line just a quick subway ride away.
Best for Business Travelers: Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel (Chicago)
For those visiting downtown Chicago on business, the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel makes it easy to keep up with a fitness routine, plus it has 13 meeting rooms, free Wi-Fi and a business lounge. There’s an 80,000-square-foot lifestyle garden, running track, dedicated yoga space and an outdoor junior Olympic-sized swimming pool. Some branches, like the 575-room, Westin Indianapolis, also offer dedicated workout guestrooms that have yoga mats, treadmills, dumbbells and other fitness equipment right in the room, so visitors can work out with outstanding views of Capitol Commons Park and downtown Indianapolis. The hotel also offers running maps of the area and a whirlpool tub next to the state-of-the-art fitness center. For a morning jump start, fresh juice blends and a healthy menu of superfoods are available to guests.
Best Beachfront: Breakers Palm Beach (Florida)
If you need some motivation, it’s difficult to top the scenery from the 6,000-square-foot, beachfront fitness center at the Breakers in Palm Beach. The lavish resort has treadmills and machines perched in front of oversized windows and activities such as cycling and yoga on the outdoor terrace facing the Atlantic Ocean. Each week, the center hosts more than 60 free fitness and wellness classes, and for those who prefer to work out late night, a separate fitness center is open 24 hours on the lower level. The regal resort has gorgeous, Renaissance-like architecture and is set on 140 acres with four pools, five whirlpools, and a stunning beach. The 535 refined rooms and suites have dark wood furnishings, ocean or resort views and around 400 feet of space.
Best Historic: Westglow Resort and Spa (North Carolina)
With a history dating back to 1917, the Westglow Resort Spa in Blowing Rock, North Carolina has earned its place as member of the Relais and Châteaux luxury hotel group. The resort has a plethora of fitness classes ranging from glow yoga and meditation to hiking, cycling and water exercises. The hotel also has weight loss programs, life coaches and stress-relief packages, which bundle in some much-needed spa treatments. Guests can dine in the historic mansion with options from the “indulgent” menu of Southern cuisine or lighter fare selections. When it’s time to turn in, elegant accommodations are located in separate buildings across the estate, with opulent furnishings and four poster beds.
