Call it a fanny pack, a belt bag, or a waist pack—however you describe it, it’s one of the most comfortable ways to tote your stuff hands free. Far from the stigmatized tourist emblem they once were, fanny packs are again a stylish option for traveling as well as everyday life around town.
“I'm all about finding ways to minimize stress while traveling, and keeping everything readily accessible—on your waist—is just one way to make your life easier,” says Lindsay Silberman, a travel and lifestyle blogger and co-founder of the Hotel Lobby Candle. “It not only helps free up your hands to drag luggage, but it also ensures that you have your documents, hand sanitizer, snacks, and airpods within arm’s reach, rather than floating in the bottomless pit of a tote or duffel.” With input from Silberman as well as travel and lifestyle influencer Melanee Shale Wolfgang, we rounded up our favorite fanny packs.
Here are the best fanny packs available.

What to Look for in a Fanny Pack
Material: If you're going to be out and about all day, having a fanny pack that is durable enough to withstand lots of wear and tear will be important. Look for bags that are made out of lightweight water-resistant materials, such as nylon or polyester. However, if you're prioritizing style over function choose a bag made of more luxe materials like leather.
Activity: The big backpack you use when you’re hiking won’t work quite as well for when you’re walking or running a 5K. Figure out what you’re going to be wearing a waist pack for first, and then go from there to make your decision about what features it should (or shouldn’t) have.
Cost: If this is going to be a frequent part of your weekend wear, spending money on a waist pack that fits you comfortably is key. If you’re just wearing it for a trip to Disney World or buying it for your teen for camp, going with something a bit less expensive will be more than fine.
