There are loads of options for burger-lovers in Vancouver! Vancouver burgers run the gamut from classic beef burgers to gourmet burgers to a wide array of vegetarian/vegan burgers.

Best Cheap(ish) Burger: Vera's Burger Shack
Vera's Burger Shack is a Vancouver institution; it tops most lists of best burgers in Vancouver. Vera's started in 1977 as a beach concession stand, and today has over 15 locations throughout Metro Vancouver. Vera's burger menu features a range of specialty burgers, including The Pawer Burger (single patty, a fried egg, cheese and fried onions), The Baja Burger (single patty, salsa, guacamole, cheese and hot peppers), and the gigantic Vic (double patty, cheese and fried onions). They have the standard burgers, too--their cheeseburger is delicious--and the portions are huge, making it easy to share (and keep costs down).
Honourable Mention: Save-on-Meats in Gastown has a $6 cheeseburger that's very, very good, too.
Best Classic Burger: Cactus Club & White Spot
Many long-time locals I know love the burgers at White Spot, the Vancouver original that predates McDonald's (the first White Spot opened in 1928). White Spot's legendary burgers really are legendary, and their kids' Pirate Pak is a fantastic Vancouver-burger kids meal.
Personally, when I want a classic burger, I head to Cactus Club (another started-in-Vancouver chain; the first Cactus Club opened in North Vancouver in 1988). "The burger" at Cactus Club exemplifies classic: Angus Beef patty, aged cheddar cheese, alder smoked bacon, sautéed mushrooms, red pepper relish. Their vegetarian gardenburger is great, too.
Best Vegetarian/Vegan Burger: The Naam
Although I am a big fan of the aforementioned "gardenburger" at Cactus Club (see above), the best vegetarian/vegan burgers in Vancouver are found at The Naam, Vancouver's top vegetarian restaurant. Get the "Sam's Five-Star Burger Platter" for a classic soy-protein burger, or try "The Naam," their original vegan patty made with organic tofu, nuts and grains.
Best Locally-Sourced Burger: Romers Burger Bar
Now with three locations in Vancouver, including Kitsilano and Yaletown, Romers Burger Bar is rapidly becoming a Vancouver favourite. Home to many of the best burgers in Vancouver--their Halibut burger is a taste of Pacific Northwest heaven!--Romers keeps all of its ingredients organic and locally-sourced.
Honourable Mention: Oakwood Canadian Bistro
Best Salmon Burger: Moderne Burger
No list of best burgers in Vancouver would be complete without at least one salmon burger. My top pick for best salmon burger goes to the gourmet Moderne Burger, whose wild salmon burger is a true local delight.
