For something a little different, the Union Square Station is a 100-year old train station that has been beautifully restored into a 125-room hotel that is operated by the Marriott (Autograph Collection). When guests step into the lobby, they’ll be greeted by gorgeous Romanesque architecture with original, 65-foot barrel-vaulted stained glass ceilings. Rooms have unique décor such as oak walls, cowhide headboards and iron and wire chandeliers. Be sure to check out the original train schedule mounted on the hallway wall. There’s also a stylish fitness center and new restaurant serving Southern fare that specializes in smoked meats and crafted cocktails. TripAdvisor members suggest asking for a room above the lobby level, because two floors are below ground level.
