Nashville is known for its outstanding music scene, southern elegance and historic charm. Visitors come to experience the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium and hop from honky tonk bar to another. Nashville’s boutique hotel scene is still developing; however, a number of unique inns and hotels are cropping up in neighborhoods like downtown Nashville, Germantown, and SoBro – to name a few. Here are the best boutique hotels in Nashville.
Best Historic Hotel: The Hermitage Hotel
Built in 1910, the iconic Hermitage Hotel is Nashville’s oldest running hotel and is located in the heart of downtown. The stunning lobby glistens with marble columns, floor-to-ceiling, arched windows, chandeliers and a Victorian-Renaissance ambience. The five-star, 122-room property has elegant accommodations with four-poster beds and antique furniture. Modern comforts include memory foam mattresses, plush robes, pillow menus and docking stations. Enjoy Southern cuisine for breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Capitol Grille, adult beverages at the Oak Bar, or unwind in the full-service spa with a body scrub and massage treatment. The hotel is pet friendly, and valet parking is additional.
Best Unique Design: Union Square Station
For something a little different, the Union Square Station is a 100-year old train station that has been beautifully restored into a 125-room hotel that is operated by the Marriott (Autograph Collection). When guests step into the lobby, they’ll be greeted by gorgeous Romanesque architecture with original, 65-foot barrel-vaulted stained glass ceilings. Rooms have unique décor such as oak walls, cowhide headboards and iron and wire chandeliers. Be sure to check out the original train schedule mounted on the hallway wall. There’s also a stylish fitness center and new restaurant serving Southern fare that specializes in smoked meats and crafted cocktails. TripAdvisor members suggest asking for a room above the lobby level, because two floors are below ground level.
Best for Solos: Hotel Indigo
The 97-room Hotel Indigo is perched in the historic “Printers Alley” in downtown Nashville within a mile of the Ryman Theater and Country Music Hall of Fame. Take it easy in the printer-themed lobby with its own library, get a quick workout in at the fitness center or grab a bite to eat at the District Bar and Kitchen, which serves up local favorites. Rooms have modern décor with playful color schemes, leather headboards and designer furnishings. The speakeasy-style lounge features local performers seven nights a week, making it an ideal spot for solo travelers to meet other guests. TripAdvisor members also appreciated that the hotel has pet-friendly accommodations.
Best for Friends: SoBro Guesthouse
The trendy, SoBro Guesthouse has an amazing location just three blocks from the Lower Broad Entertainment District and uses new technology to make traveling easier. Guests utilize their smartphones to check in using an access code (there is no front desk). Rooms are designed like apartments with a full kitchen in the suites, grocery delivery service and plenty of space, making the SoBro Guesthouse an easy choice for friends traveling together. Added touches include fresh coffee beans, umbrellas (if needed), record players, free WiFi and parking. TripAdvisor members noted that there is no elevator, so guests must be able to bring bags upstairs themselves.
Best Neighborhood Hotel: The Germantown Inn
Set in Nashville’s hip, up-and-coming neighborhood of Germantown, the Germantown Inn was first built back in the mid 19th-century and remains a restored brick building with six dazzling suites. Opened in late 2016, the inn pays special attention to detail, and individually-themed rooms have stylish décor, wood flooring, chandeliers, designer furniture and luxurious amenities such as lavish baths and plush robes. Guests can take in some of the city views from the rooftop patio or chat with the friendly innkeeper. The neighborhood of Germantown has several fresh, new restaurant and bar concepts and is within walking distance to Bicentennial Capital Mall State Park, or a short ride from Downtown Nashville.
Best for Couples: Inn at Fontanel
For cozy and charming accommodations just a 10-minute drive from Downtown Nashville, the Inn at Fontanel delivers a luxurious, farmhouse experience that's perfect for couples. Consisting of five distinct buildings on beautifully manicured grounds, guests can choose from six unique suites with premium amenities. Expect fireplaces, four-poster beds, light and airy décor and private patios. Gather at the main hall each morning for a fabulous included breakfast and an opportunity to mingle with other guests. Take a romantic stroll by the pond and waterfall, or catch a live musical performance at the amphitheater in the forest. The kitchen and dining area are also open for guests to use. TripAdvisor members loved the porch swings, attention to detail and wonderful service.
