Want a beer or bite to eat before a Brooklyn Nets game or a concert? If you’re looking for a fun place to have pre-game or post-concert dinner or drink before an event at Barclays Center, here are five bars and restaurants that are just a short walk from Barclays Center.
Of course you can save your appetite for the many vendors in Barlcays, but these places also make a great spot to recap the event afterward with friends. From sports bars to a California themed Brooklyn bar (yes, that exists), there are many great bars and restaurants to have a beer near Barclays Center.
You don't need tickets to a Barclays event to enjoy a visit to one of these bars and restaurants. Each one is a destination in itself.
Enjoy and let the home team win!
Alchemy, a beloved Park Slope Irish Tavern, predates Barclays Center. The cozy restaurant has exposed brick walls, wooden booths, and a menu of great eats. I’m a huge fan of their spacious backyard, which doubles the restaurant's seating during the warmer months. Don’t miss the happy hour on weekdays from 4-6:30pm, where you can enjoy four-dollar beers and a five-dollar plate of chicken wings. They also have a divine brunch menu, if you happen to be attending an afternoon game. Just to note, it does get crowded before an event at Barclays, so get there early.
Attention all season ticket holders, this California themed Park Slope bar offers a Frequent Drinker Card Membership. If you don’t plan on drinking there regularly, just order one of their California drafts and hang out watching a west coast game on their TV. Be forewarned, you might wind up passing along your tickets to your Barclays event and stick around to see a comedy show, a reading or partake in their Sunday night pub quiz. The comedy lineup at Pacific Standard is quite impressive, be sure to look at the schedule to see who's headlining. Check out their blog for a list of events. Like a California sunset, this lively bar will definitely charm you.
With over twenty beers on draft and free popcorn, this place is the perfect spot for a pre or post game brew. In the warmer months, grab a seat at a picnic table in their backyard at this casual Brooklyn pub. But don’t drink too much or you might be tempted to write an inappropriate message on the chalkboard in their bathroom (don’t worry unlike many internet comments, you can always erase it). This is a great spot to watch a game. It has a very casual vibe, and is excellent for a post game meet up.
This Park Slope sports bar, located two blocks from Barclays Center, is the perfect spot for a pre game beer. If you can’t make it to a game, you can watch one of many sporting events on their five TVs. Be sure to soak up your alcohol with some food. The kitchen serves salads, burgers and a good selection of appetizers. Stop in before a game and you’ll find many folks sporting New York Islanders jerseys, at this friendly sports bar, where you're apt to make a few new friends before the game.
Get schooled in the world of craft beer at this beer shoppe and bar run by self proclaimed “beer nerds.” With a rotating selection of sixteen beers on tap, this bar will be sure to please even the snobbiest beer drinker. Although you can’t bring drinks into Barclays Center, you might be tempted to make a post game stop (they are open until midnight on weekends) to fill a growler or pick up a six pack before heading home. They also host beer related events, so check their website for upcoming events.
