Even more, five-star rooms at affiliated hotel The Water Club offer the most exclusive experience.
Runner-Up, Best Overall: Caesars Atlantic City
Caesars Atlantic City is a worthy alternative for gamblers who want to stay directly on the iconic Atlantic City Boardwalk. Still, the Roman-inspired theme evokes the famous atmosphere of the casino hotel’s Vegas counterpart. Entry-level rooms come with one king or two double beds, a TV, mini-fridge, and blackout shades. There are also smoking and non-smoking rooms available. Use your room as a base for exploring the rest of the hotel, starting at the casino with its astonishing variety of table games and slot machines.
When hunger strikes, there are no fewer than 10 different restaurants. These range from casual Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill to upscale Nero’s Italian Steakhouse. Spend your evenings in one of the hotel’s themed bars or enjoy award-winning comedians and big-name concerts at its event venues. Other highlights include Qua Baths and Spa (with its signature Roman Rituals) and the rooftop pool. Found at the top of Ocean Tower, it’s exclusively for guests and wows with panoramic views of the Boardwalk and the Atlantic Ocean beyond.
Best Budget: Best Western Atlantic City Hotel
Although it receives mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, Best Western Atlantic City Hotel is a budget-friendly choice for travelers who don’t require a casino on-site. In terms of location, it couldn’t be more convenient — you’re a five-minute walk from the Boardwalk, the beach, and Ripley’s Believe it or Not. Guests love that it’s easy to explore the city’s best attractions on foot. The smoke-free rooms are standard, with cable TV, a coffeemaker, microwave, and mini-fridge. It’s up to you whether you want one king bed or two double beds.
If you end up having some room in your budget (perhaps after a win at one of the casinos), consider upgrading to a room with a private Jacuzzi. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout, while a complimentary full breakfast with hot and cold items adds to the hotel’s overall value. Parking is also well-priced at $10 per night. There isn't an on-site restaurant for lunch and dinner, however, there are plenty of affordable eateries, food stalls, pubs, and bars nearby.

In between parties, refuel at one of nine restaurants serving everything from Japanese sushi to American steaks and seafood. All rooms and suites come with Wi-Fi, a flatscreen TV, a mini-fridge, and coffeemaker – and you can even create your own entertainment by reserving a Fender guitar. Other amenities include a spa and swimming pool.
Best for Families: Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City
Set on the banks of the Absecon Channel, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City is another popular mega-hotel. Like other Atlantic City resorts, it offers a casino, multiple bars, regular live concerts, and a slew of casual and upscale restaurants. However, the resort goes the extra mile to cater to families, with a children’s pool on the fourth floor and a Family Fun Center complete with age-appropriate arcade games. These facilities are open seasonally from the end of May to the beginning of September.
Choose from an array of family-friendly floor plans, including spacious rooms and suites with two queen beds or a luxurious two-bedroom suite. All options come with Simmons Beautyrest mattresses, LED TVs, a coffeemaker, and mini-fridge. For meals, head to AC Burger Co. for classic burgers, sundaes, and milkshakes, or to Pin-Up Pizza for pizza by the slice. Best for Romance: Carisbrooke Inn Bed and Breakfast
For a romantic Atlantic City getaway, consider booking Carisbrooke Inn Bed and Breakfast in nearby Ventnor. Its seaside location affords some peace and quiet, while still keeping the excitements of the Boardwalk and casinos within easy reach. The inn offers 17 rooms and suites divided between two charismatic beach houses. All are romantically decorated in a Victorian style with unique features and amenities. Ask for one with a king-sized bed and whirlpool bath spacious enough for two.
In the morning, savor the included multi-course breakfast before lounging together on the ocean-view deck or on the tranquil back patio. The beach is a few steps away if you feel like taking a stroll or swim. Wherever your adventures take you, make sure you’re back in time for the complimentary evening reception, which includes wine and refreshments served on the deck in summer or by the parlor fireplace in winter. The inn even offers a generous Elopement on the Beach package with everything from the minister to the flowers, photographer, and champagne toast included.
Best Business: Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel
Sheraton Atlantic City has mixed reviews on TripAdvisor, with some guests praising the helpful staff and convenient location while others claim the decor is outdated and the rooms could be cleaner. However, as the only hotel adjacent to the Atlantic City Convention Center, it remains a solid choice for business travelers. You can also host all kinds of corporate events on-site, thanks to 20 different meeting rooms (the largest of which has space for 1,200 people). Bespoke catering and the latest audiovisual equipment can be arranged.
A full-service business center and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi add to the hotel’s attraction. For maximum productivity, all rooms and suites come with a large work desk, USB outlets, and a coffeemaker. When you’re not working, the heated indoor pool and 24-hour fitness center provide a way to unwind. There are three on-site restaurants — head to Boulevards Café for a buffet breakfast, Tun Tavern for steaks and craft brews, or Shoe Bar for cocktails, which also boasts large sports screens and Miss America pageant memorabilia.
Best Pet-Friendly: Showboat Hotel
The Showboat Hotel has been a Boardwalk landmark for over 20 years, and although some reviewers state that it’s starting to show its age, it has a reputation for being extremely pet-friendly. Plus, it was the first hotel in Atlantic City to welcome pets and permits up to two animals per room for a reasonable additional fee. Crated pets (dogs or cats) can be left unattended in the room and benefit from treats, food bowls, and plenty of green space for exercising and exploring.
For guests, there is a swimming pool, fitness center, and multiple dining and drinking outlets. Head to Atlantic City Eatery for casual American comfort food, or to Bricker’s Burgers for patties and fries with an old-fashioned soda shop vibe. Surf Bar serves cocktails with an ocean view, while Bourbon Room Concert Hall hosts regular live music, DJ sets, and more. In addition to comfortable standard rooms, the hotel has an impressive choice of suites with upgraded amenities that range from balconies to whirlpool tubs and wet bars.
Best Inn: The Chelsea Pub and Inn

It’s located a block from the Boardwalk next to Tropicana casino, yet offers an insight into the city’s past with a charming façade that dates back to 1880. You can choose a king, queen, or double room, each with its own unique decor. Special features may include a four-poster bed, an intricately carved headboard, or a sparkling chandelier.
All rooms provide modern comforts including free Wi-Fi and cable TV. Breakfast is also included in your room rate (continental during the week and hot on weekends). Before heading out to explore the casinos and Boardwalk entertainment venues, stop in at the Chelsea Pub for a few drinks.
