In Brief: Get ready for approximately 300 stores and restaurants within the confines of Woodfield Mall, set in the northwestern suburb of Chicago. Illinois' largest shopping mall is a whopping 2,174,000 square feet, making it the fifth largest shopping mall in the United States (Woodfield Mall was the largest in the country when it first opened in 1971). It is anchored by high-profile retail department stores: JCPenney, Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears. It also features specialty shops such as Apple, Tumi and Zara.

Woodfield Mall is approximately a 40-minute drive, or 27 miles, from Chicago's downtown hotels and 15 minutes from O'Hare Airport. The property is part of the Golden Corridor, the region of commerce around the Northwest Tollway that also includes the corporate headquarters of United Airlines, Nielsen Company, Big Ten Conference and U.S. Robotics.

How To Travel To Woodfield Mall

By Car

From Milwaukee and North:
Head south on Interstate 94 to Interstate 294. Remain on Interstate 294 southbound to Interstate 90. Then head west on Interstate 90 to Illinois Route 53 southbound to Woodfield Road.

From Joliet and South:
Head north on Interstate 355 to Interstate 290. Continue west on Interstate 290 and exit at Illinois Route 72/Higgins Road. Remain on Frontage Road to Woodfield Road and then turn left.

From Rockford and East:
Take Interstate 90 west to Illinois Route 53. Head south on Illinois 53 and exit at Woodfield Road.
From Southwest Suburbs:
Head north on Interstate 294 to Interstate 290. Then head west on Interstate 290 and exit at Illinois Route 72/Higgins Road. Remain on Frontage Road to Woodfield Road and then turn left.

By Trolley/Shuttle Service

The Village of Schaumburg offers a free trolley service year-round (holiday hours vary). A schedule for the trolley can be found right here.

A number of Schaumburg hotels offer complimentary shuttle service to Woodfield Mall, including Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Chicago Schaumburg, Holiday Inn Express Chicago - Schaumburg, Hyatt Regency Schaumburg Chicago, Quality Inn Schaumburg and Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel.

For those arriving by motor coach with groups of 10 or more, Woodfield Mall recommends signing up for this signature meet & greet service. Groups are greeted by a mall representative, plus each shopper receives a Woodfield Mall shopping bag filled with a handheld directory, Style Pass with discounts and offers to more than 100 stores. There is no charge for this service. Reservations for this service must be placed at least 48 hours before the visit.

Restaurants To Visit at Woodfield Mall

Visitors to Woodfield Mall will find a number of restaurants as well as smaller gourmet food shops. One of the anchor restaurants is Texas de Brazil, which also boasts a popular Chicago location in Streeterville.

A large food court, called Dining Pavilion, opened on the second floor near Sears in 2018. Now, in addition to the eateries scattered around the mall, shoppers can experience 12 new quick-serve dining options, with local and national fare. Chipotle, Charley's Philly Steaks, Maoz Falafel and Grill, Suki Hana and Wok a Holic are among the newbies. The large new addition also has spaces for charging phones, meeting up with groups and catching the game scores on flat-screen televisions.
