Back at the Ranch's handmade, "bespoke" cowboy boots are Western cowboy boots--but with a very personal touch. They are made to order, fully customized to your desires, a perfect fit, and one-of-a-kind.

Among the personalized options for a pair of Back at the Ranch custom-made boots are hundreds of designs such as emblems of your home state, your initials, horses, cats, dogs, flowers, cowgirls, playing cards, Celtic swirls, skulls, suns, moons, thunderbolts. If you don't see the pictorial that you have in mind, it will be created for you.

You choose your leather, whether buttery calfskin or exotic leathers and skins such as ostrich or alligator, or perhaps ostrich or alligator, or sueded pigskin ( Nubuck). Colors are every shade of the rainbow. You can opt for a traditionally pointed toe, or a squared point, or rounded toe. Boot height ranges from an open-heel mule to ankle-high to the knee (the most popular height is mid-calf). Soles can be hard leather or all-weather Vibram "lug soles."

Boot embellishments to consider: hand-tooling, top-stitching, metallic or crackled finishes, fringe, tassels, spurs, studs, chains, crystals, rhinestones, gems, charms. "When it comes to custom-made boot design, the only limit is your imagination," says Back at the Ranch owner Wendy Lane Henry.

Wendy Lane Henry owns Back at the Ranch. She is a Miami native who owned a busy, high-end women's fashion boutique in New York City. "I was traveling and had a hunch that Santa Fe was the place for me, and relocated to Santa Fe in 1989,” says Wendy. "In 1990, I opened Back at the Ranch, selling new and vintage cowboy boots, jeans, and Western kitsch."

"At the time, all the cowboy boot designers were men," recalls Wendy. "There was no fashion component to cowboy boots, very little variety, and nothing to really appeal to women."

Wendy became the first cowboy boot designer to own her own boot store and factory. Back at the Ranch kick-started the everlasting craze for fashionable cowboy boots for women "and stylish guys, too," adds Wendy.
