School starts back in August, but that doesn't mean summer in Orlando is over! The month is full of fun charity events and evening theme park shows, so schedule in some R&R between back-to-school shopping trips.

Orlando Main Street Restaurant Week
The Orlando Main Street Program has organized Orlando Main Street Restaurant Week, which takes place in early August. The event aims to promote food service businesses that are members of their location's Main Street district.
While it's nice to put the past school year out of our heads for a while, we need to keep next year's school start date in mind to ensure we can fit in vacations, checkups, back-to-school shopping, and other summer stuff before the new year begins. Orange County schools generally begin mid to late August.
Run or walk the 3.1-mile course through downtown's outer neighborhoods and receive prizes and other incentives. The Celebration of Running 5k is part of Track Shack's month-long anniversary celebration and is presented by Florida Hospital and held at the Orlando Science Center.
Held at Orlando Watersports Complex, the Nautique Wake Open features a large contingent of some of the best professional wakeboarders and wakeskaters in the world, as well as many top amateurs. The competition lasts for four days and is presented by Rockstar Energy Drink.
Enjoy a gourmet dinner, silent and live auctions, dancing, games and celebrity appearances and entertainment at the annual Diamonds & Denim Gala at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The event benefits the Beta Center's family strengthening and child abuse prevention services.
