The Best Outlet Malls in the Atlanta, Georgia Area

You might remember obligatory trips to your closest outlet mall at the end of each season to save on what didn’t sell from your favorite brands, but outlet malls have been experiencing constant growth and increasing popularity over the past few years. In fact, brands such as J. Crew, Ann Taylor and Nike have created outlet-specific lines for their brands in order to meet the rising demand. Georgia is home to 9 outlet malls, and we’ve outlined them all to help you decide which is most-suited for your shopping interests.     Sugarloaf Mills

    Distance from Atlanta: about 30 minutes (27.6 miles).

    Need to Know: With more than 180 stores, Sugarloaf Mills is Georgia’s largest outlet mall, but it is also the only indoor outlet mall in the state. Many luxury outlets call the complex home, including Neiman Marcus Last Call and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH. There are an array of specialty retailers, including the LEGO outlet and Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. Perhaps most unique about this outlet is the AMC theater on-site, where you can grab dinner then head to a movie after your shopping day.     Dining Options: Being the largest outlet mall in the state has its perks. There are more than 20 places to grab a bite to eat, ranging from grab and go options like Jersey Mike’s...MORE subs, coffee houses like Starbucks and full-service dining like Shoney’s. Perhaps the mall’s most entertaining options are the popular entertainment venue Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament and Atlanta’s largest Dave & Buster’s.     Distance from Atlanta: about 30 minutes (31.7 miles).

    Need to Know: The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta is the city’s newest and closest outlet shopping center—they opened their doors in the summer of 2013—with more than 50 stores, including J. Crew, Vineyard Vines, Nike, Brooks Brothers, Le Creuset, Bose, Yankee Candle and Waterford Wedgewood. What sets this outlet center apart from the others is its accessibility for Atlanta visitors. A complimentary shuttle runs Monday through Saturday and will take you to and from the shopping center from any Atlanta hotel. On Sundays, the shuttle runs to and from the Georgia Tech campus.     Dining Options: After a long afternoon of shopping, we suggest grabbing a bite to eat at Taqueria Tsunami, which boasts fresh Latin-Asian fusions at an affordable...MORE price. There’s a Johnny Rockets and Ghirardelli on-site and other fast-casual restaurants nearby, including Five Guys, Which Wich and Marlow’s Tavern.

    Distance from Atlanta: about 40 minutes (35.7 miles).

    Need to Know: Closest for those living south of Atlanta, the Tanger Outlets in Locust Grove may be smaller than most of the Atlanta-area outlet malls (there are 62 stores total here), but that doesn’t mean it’s short on great deals. Home to a Banana Republic Factory Store, Under Armour, American Eagle Outfitters and Lucky Brand Jeans, there are also vast number of shops offering children’s clothes including Polo Ralph Lauren, OshKosh B'gosh, The Children’s Place and P.S. from Aeropostale. Click here for a full list of retailers.

    Dining Options: There is no food court at this shopping center, but you can take a break from shopping at the fast-casual Denny’s diner chain for an affordable meal.     Need to Know: With 140 outlet stores, the North Georgia Premium Outlets are one of Georgia’s largest outlet mall shopping centers (second only to Sugarloaf Mills). In addition to outlet mall benchmarks, such as Ann Taylor, Gap and Converse, the center boasts many luxury shops as well.     Dining Options: Although the mall does have traditional food court dining options on-site, consider driving off the mall’s property to take advantage of delicious North Georgia barbecue (Big D’s BBQ is less than 1 mile up the road).

    Distance from Atlanta: about 1 hour 15 minutes (66.4 miles).

    Need to Know: With just 50 stores, the Calhoun Premium Outlets are the smallest in the Atlanta-area, but your savings will still be worth the trip. With an Ann Taylor Factory Store, Loft Outlet, Tommy Hilfiger and Nike Factory Store, this complex is also home to a handful of specialty stores, including Bath & Body Works, Direct Tools Factory Outlet and Kitchen Collection. Click here for a full list of retailers.

    Dining Options: Luii’s is the only full-service dining option on-site at the outlet mall. They serve made-to-order sandwiches, wings and pizzas in this classic American dining restaurant concept. Java Junction is also located at the center and has all of your favorite espresso drinks and coffee house snacks.

    Need to Know: More than 60 retailers call this east Georgia outlet mall home. The Tanger Outlets at Commerce have a variety of stores ranging from retailers such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Coach, and Eddie Bauer to the popular home goods store Kirkland’s.     Dining Options: Don’t get too many cookies at the Great American Cookie, the center’s only option for food (that's right, there is no food court or other dining establishments on-site, so don't come hungry). Although there aren’t many food options around the shopping center, Athens is only a short 30-minute drive away and has countless local, one-of-a-kind dining options, like The National, Seabear, Last Resort Grill...MORE and The Branded Butcher.

    There are two more outlet malls in Georgia located farther away from the Atlanta area. Although they are smaller complexes – each has less than 30 stores on-site – that does not keep them from having big savings at both your favorite stores and some unique, local retailers.
