The Arizona Taco Festival is designed to be a day filled with food, fun and competition. The highlight of the Arizona Taco Festival is the competition, where more than 50 teams will be dishing up specialty tacos in four categories (chicken, beef, pork, and seafood) as well as side dishes for cash prizes and bragging rights. In past years more than 100,000 tacos were consumed at this event.

Are discounts available?

Not that I know of.

What else should I know?

New in 2017: Your wristband is a cashless payment system. Instead of having to pay cash or credit to every vendor, you can "fill up" your wristband digital wallet to enjoy the event. When your wristband runs out, you can replenish it at stations around the event grounds. Wristband registration begins two weeks before the event. Ladies, you can leave your purse at home!

In addition to visiting the more than 50 teams in taco and sidecart (salsas and such) competition, there will be cooking demonstrations, Lucha Libre wrestling, the tequila expo, live music, hot chili pepper eating contest, taco eating challenge, Kids' Zone and Sunday's Chihuahua Beauty Pageant (registration form online, fee for entry).

Taco sample varieties will include chicken, pork, beef, seafood, veggie and dessert. Vendor sample sizes will vary, but should include 1-2 ounces of ingredients. Full plates of food will also available to purchase.

The Tequila Expo ticket is purchased in addition to the general admission or VIP ticket. Your fee allows you to have ten tequila samples. The hours for the Tequila Expo are noon to 5 p.m.
