Not a fall goes by without Central Ohio residents being treated to fresh-picked apples and apple cider. Many people fondly remember taking apple-picking field trips as school children and trips to area farms are still very popular.
In fact, given the different harvesting times, true apple aficionados take multiple trips to sample the different varieties available. Central Ohio is home to many self-pick farms, check through our listings to find the ones closest to you.

Arrowhead Orchard is a favorite destination for apple pickers and they host fun activities throughout autumn. Hay rides, a corn maze, a pumpkin patch, and 'Fort Delicious' are just some of the entertaining things your family can find here.
Beginning in September, you can pick from their orchard filled with 25 varieties of apples as they ripen. The various apples are ready at different times so you can plan your trip according to your favorites. Be sure to check the website or call ahead as weather can be a factor.
Fresh cider, apple butter, and other farm-fresh treats are available in the Orchard Market as well.

Lynd Fruit Farm
A fun destination for Ohio apple pickers, Lynd Fruit Farm has been hosting pick-your-own apples since the late 1960s and the family fun does not stop with the apples. They also offer a corn maze, pumpkin picking, and a market filled with local delights.
The orchards offer 15 apple varieties and Lynd specializes in school tours that give kids a look at how apples, bees, and the entire farm works. If you're interested in summer berry picking, you will find Blue Frog Farm just up the road.

Glen Hill Orchards LLC
Glen Hill Orchards has been in business since 1912 and they are known for growing a great variety of delicious apples. Though pick-your-own apples are currently not available, you can stop into the Farm Market to pick up a bundle of the orchard's 22 varieties of apples, local honey, jams and jellies, and more.
This orchard is very good about updating their Facebook page and that is the best place to find out which varieties are currently in the market.

Windy Hill Apple Farm
Windy Hill has been a popular pick-your-own orchard since they opened in 1995. In recent years, however, the owners have changed direction and no longer offer apple picking.
Instead, this is the farm you need to contact if you're interested in apple juice (untreated sweet cider) and guidance for making your own hard apple cider. It is a chemical-free farm so you can rest assured that their apples and juice are ready for your DIY cider endeavors.
