Anouk Zijlma is a former travel writer for TripSavvy, specializing in Africa for nearly 11 years. She grew up in Malawi and Kenya and currently lives in the United States but returns regularly to the continent.
Zijlma got her start in the travel industry working as a top-selling travel agent and training specialist for Council Travel, a large student/budget travel agency in the United States. She currently shares her extensive personal travel experience by planning customized luxury African safaris for an adventure travel company. Zijlma is also a regular moderator on panels at The New York Times Travel Show and volunteer for the Association for the Promotion of Tourism to Africa, having served as a board member for the North East Chapter.
Zijlma has a bachelor's degree in anthropology from the University of Durham and a master's degree in (Third World) Development Studies from the University of Bath.
