American Royal BBQ: The Most Delicious Competition in Kansas City

Stuff Your Face at the World Series of BBQ This October

American Royal BBQ

American Royal BBQ's annual World Series of BBQ  (Oct. 1–4, 2015) is one of the nation's biggest and best barbeque competitions. It brings more than 550 grilling teams from across the globe to compete in  Kansas City for weekend of grillin' and fun. Teams fire up their grills on Friday and party until dawn (with a watchful eye on what's cooking!) only to race their entries into the judging hall on Saturday. The American Royal is not to be missed on either day—and of course, you can sample true BBQ perfection.

Location and Cost

For the first time in 2015, the American Royal BBQ competition will be held in Arrowhead Stadium in the Truman Sports Complex. Tickets will be available in advance through the American Royal Website.

The main event, of course, is the barbecue competition—some 550 different teams compete to grill the world's best ribs, burnt ends, and pulled pork. In-between all that grilling (the good stuff takes time), check out a few of the other activities:

  • 9th Annual Junior World Series of Barbecue: Meet the world's next best barbeque chef at this competition for kids (ages 6–10 and 11–15). The little ones grill up burgers and the big kids cook up some steaks.
  • Fast Eddy's Texas Hold 'Em Tournament: Register now for

The best part of the American Royal is of course, sampling mouthwatering BBQ. Years ago, you could walk up to a team, beg for a sample and taste away, but due to Health Department Regs, only teams that are licensed food vendors are able to sell BBQ. Visit the food court to feast on some of the area's best BBQ.
