Albuquerque has several consignment sales that repurpose kids' items. Both take place twice a year, in spring and fall, the perfect times for getting back to school clothes and getting rid of them in the spring when the kids have outgrown them. For one weekend, sellers and shoppers come together to buy and sell gently used baby, children's and maternity items.

New Mexico Kids Consignment Sale

The annual New Mexico Kids consignment event brings together more than 100 local Albuquerque area families who sell their many kinds of gently used goods. There are baby strollers, car seats, toys, books, furniture, electronics, high chairs, and of course, clothes. As families with children know, clothes are rapidly outgrown. The New Mexico Kids sale allows for the purchase of gently used baby, maternity and children's clothes in a way that doesn't bust the budget.

The sales work for both those who want to sell items, and those who want to simply buy. Families can earn extra money by emptying out closets, and save money by purchasing items that fit. The registration fee covers access to an online tagging system. By selling at the sale, there are no more yard sales and easy access to thousands of buyers in just a few days. Craigslist, Ebay and consignment store options are also available, but the beauty of the semi-annual sale is getting rid of things all at once.

New Mexico Kids states that the average consigner makes between $200 and $300 dollars. The sale staff help sellers with tagging items, and with how to price clothing and toys.

For sellers, the Consignment Mommies website offers detailed tips on how to do everything from pricing your items to how to best present pants on a hanger for your sale. Some things parents don't think about selling for consignment are items such as sports equipment, and yet this is one of the fastest selling items at a consignment sale.
