Chapel Hill Mall, located on the Northeast side of Akron, is a 860,000-square foot traditional mall, anchored by JCPenney, and Macy's. The mall features more than 100 stores and a full-sized indoor carousel with painted scenes of Summit County landmarks. Some of the retailers within Chapel Hill mall include Champs Sports, Express, Claire's, Finish Line, GNC, Kay's Jewelers, Spencer Gifts and Old Navy. This mixed-use space, orginally constructed in 1895, in downtown Akron was once a collection of grain silos for Quaker Oats. Today, the building is owned by the University of Akron and features student housing and an inn as well as a group of specialty shops and restaurants.

Quaker Square was added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1975.
