A new name has recently jumped into the European river cruise waters, and it's been a game-changer. While river cruising has long enjoyed enormous popularity with baby boomers and seniors, Disney has brought the easy-going experience to families.

Adventures by Disney, known for its premium, highly immersive guided family tours, also offers river cruise itineraries in Europe. Partnering with AmaWaterways, the luxury river cruise line, Adventures by Disney river cruises is a new way for families to experience Europe in a way that is active, immersive and easy.

Danube River sailings bring families to iconic locations and hidden gems in eight destinations across four countries—Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. On the eight-day/seven-night voyages, families will explore castle ruins in Germany, enjoy chocolate tastings and waltz lessons in Bratislava, visit salt mines in Austria, attend a horse show in Hungary, and more. There's an option to add an Adventures by Disney three-day/two-night pre- or post-river cruise experience in Prague, Czech Republic.

In fall 2017, Disney will also offer an adult-only itinerary for foodies. The Rhine Food & Wine River Cruise will sail through Switzerland, France, Germany and the Netherlands. Highlights include vineyard tours and onboard wine seminars; a guided walking tour through Riquewihr, France; interactive cooking classes with local beer and wine pairings; and a tour of the Heineken factory in Amsterdam.

Adventures by Disney river cruises offer maximum port time in each city, arriving at dawn and departing late night.

The sailings take place on AmaWaterways's 170-passenger Ama Viola. The ships are built with families in mind to attract multigenerational families. The ships feature larger staterooms and suites, including some staterooms that can accommodate up to three people. Adjoining cabins can be connected to accommodate families of up to five. Suites with convertible sofa-beds can accommodate families of up to four. Staterooms feature complimentary in-room entertainment-on-demand system with Internet, music, TV and newly released movies, and there is an outdoor pool on the sun deck with swim-up bar, fitness room, hair salon and massage services.
