The Las Vegas Show That Brings Back The "Vegas" To The Strip

At Absinthe The Show you get a show that covers all the bases from Cirque Du Soleil to Carnival atmosphere to a traveling circus. You'll laugh, you'll be amazed and you'll have a few instances where you'll hold your breath for a little too long. Oh, and it might be one of the best shows in Las Vegas

Absinthe is held in a large tent called the Spiegeltent, adjacent to the beer garden and a decent area to have a few drinks and mingle with other Vegas visitors. The tent is over 100 years old and apparently you can find over 3,428 mirrors inside the tent. Just FYI, it's not like they are those crazy carnival mirrors that make you look fat, they seem pretty normal.

If you are lucky enough I would attempt to sit about three rows back in order to get the full effect of the show. The front row is great if you want a little bit of sweat on yourself but your neck might be sore from looking straight up. Don't worry about getting a good seat as there are only 640 seats in the...MORE tent and you can catch the thrilling action of Absinthe from anywhere. You can also choose from one of 20 booths around the room.

Impressive Skating at Absinthe The Show

So you get to see two performers skate around a tiny stage that is 9 feet in diameter. It’s a good thing if you like looking at two people who have zero fat on their bodies and look pretty good. I won’t lie, I spent a great deal of time during that segment of the show just watching the muscles on the backs of both the guy and the girl. (I really need to work out!)

As they spin around they are literally inches from the front row, so if you are prone to having to jump up to go to the restroom the front row is not for you. Also, if you tend to get into trouble for looking at other women/men, you might want to consider a seat just a little bit farther back from the stage, The Skating Aratas at Absinthe both have killer bodies that will test your discipline to look away before it gets comfortable.

    Can You Say Wardrobe Malfunction?

The show does require an open mind, an ability to laugh at crude humor and the ability to appreciate the human form. It’s not about sex and nudity but the performers do wear revealing outfits while performing some harrowing stunts.

There are 20 members of the cast and I am pretty sure that 19 look amazing, there is one guy who I would not want to see naked but he is pretty talented so they left him in the show.

Right Under The Action at Absinthe

Did I mention some extremely talented performers? You will be dazzled by the Absinthe talent and the ability to see so much action up close makes a huge difference in how you view the show. Might I suggest not leaving your seat for drinks during the show because you will miss something and then later on in the evening when everyone is talking about the way someone flew through the tent you’ll feel left out. Also, having to squeeze past each and every person in the row is a little rude, unless you are wearing a tiny skirt like the person who squeezed past me. In that case get up all night.

With 13 different acts throughout the show you’ll get a broad range of impressive performances. The show moves quickly and you’ll be a little surprised to find out the show is ending after 90 minutes.

    Strong Guys

Two strong guys who make me feel like I should spend more time in the gym. I’m pretty sure my wife would just love keeping an eye on these guys. I’ll say that part of me watched a little too long and I began feeling a tiny bit inferior.

Is It Wrong To Say This Guy Looks Real Good Next To The Hot Girl?

I mentioned the Skating Aratas are hot, right? I just have to point out the obvious, not only can they impress with their talents on roller skates but this guys abs are worthy of closer inspection and the female and her rock hard body will almost make you forget she is spinning around on skates just inches from your head.

Do you stretch much? This act made me reach for my bottle of Ibuprofen while at the same time had me texting my wife to make sure she was still awake back in the room. Yeah, that was me the guy sitting alone with all these attractive people dancing around me.

Take a deep breath and watch Absinthe. Just because you spend a lot of time laughing you might think they need to mask the talent. No way, this is one of those breathtaking moments soon after the lights go down. DO NOT get there late!

Penny From Absinthe: My True Love?

Penny at Absinthe at Caesars Palace
••• Penny at Absinthe at Caesars Palace. Photo by Zeke Quezada

I shouldn’t say this, I should have some journalistic integrity but then I realize I’m writing about Las Vegas and I spend far more time doing research with a drink in my hand, food in my mouth or with attractive women. So I am going to say it. I think I fell in love with Penny. The Gazillionaire is the star of the show, he makes you laugh, he keeps the show going, but Penny, she has stolen my heart.

She is my idea of perfect. She’s sweet, yet naughty, she’s wholesome, yet dirty and she has this voice that I could easily wake to everyday. I can imagine my wife and I waking up to Penny at the foot of our bed, believe me it would be better than the cats that take residence there now. I would hear her great stories and her infectious laugh. Penny is the reason you should see Absinthe, yes, people will fall out of the sky, the acrobatics will make your palms sweaty and the laughs will stay with you for awhile but Penny will capture your heart.

    This didn't get weird, right?
