    Angola, Indiana, is mostly known as home to Pokagon State Park, an all-season draw thanks to its winter tobogganing runs and summer camping and fishing.     The husband and wife team of Rick and Marty Hayward are the owners of 6 Autumns Food and Spirits in Angola. They started the Indiana restaurant after they already had been successful with their Over the Top Parties and Events catering company so they already had the recipes prepared.

    In creating 6 Autumns Food and Spirits, it was important to the Haywards that they keep the menu as interesting, fresh, and local as possible, just like they do for all of the events they still cater.

    What makes 6 Autumns worth a trip to is the unusual dishes you’ll find in what you expect to be a standard gastro pub restaurant, especially not in rural Indiana. The menu is very large and has something for everyone, whether you are looking for a full meal, appetizer, or a sandwich.

    This restaurant is especially known for putting a twist on comfort food, such as: Barbecue Nachos, 6 Autumns Cheesesteak, Marty’s Pepper Steak (with a sweet teriyaki sauce), and grilled chicken with artichoke sauce. You can also make your own burger with a variety of toppings, cheese, and sauces. 

    A few of the items that you must have on the 6 Autumns Angola menu include the Bacon Pineapple Chicken Skewers, w perfectly cheesy Mac N Cheese, and the Paul’s Slap Your Mama Swai, a fish dish you won’t soon forget. It also should be noted that since Marty Hayward has severe allergies, the restaurant is especially allergy-friendly.

     Beyond the food, 6 Autumns restaurant in Angola, Indiana, is known for having the largest selection of beer, wine, and spirits of any eatery in the area. That collection includes a huge variety of whiskey, especially bourbon, a favorite of the owners. The Haywards claim to have the “largest selection north of New Orleans” and one would be hard-pressed to argue that fact. 

    At 6 Autumns Food and Spirits, you can also taste some wonderful local wine from Satek Winery.  They carry four wines from the Angola, Indiana, winery, including the Satek Chardonnay, a citrusy and easy drinking white that goes well with anything on the menu. 

    The bar alone is worth a trip. They also have local Midwest brews on tap and in bottles, and spirits you won’t find anywhere else in Steuben County.
